A Type 23 frigate of the Royal Navy, HMS St Albans, shadowed the Russian missile frigate Admiral Gorshkov near British waters in the North Sea on Christmas Day.

The Russian newest guided-missile frigate was traversing the North Sea off the UK coast when the Royal Navy dispatched HMS St Albans to “keep watch on the new Russian warship Admiral Gorshkov as it passed close to UK territorial waters.”

According to the Royal Navy, HMS St Albans scrambled a helicopter to monitor Admiral Gorshkov.

“I will not hesitate in defending our waters or tolerate any form of aggression. Britain will never be intimidated when it comes to protecting our country, our people, and our national interests,” Defense Secretary Gavin Williamson said commeting on the issue. “Britain will never be intimidated when it comes to protecting our country, our people, and our national interests.”

zio british retardz with their fake security – yemeni murerders

I’m sure the Russian’s were pleased the Brits were interested enough to come take a look at their new ship, nobody likes being ignored when they’ve got a new ship, but they should have sent Boaty McBoatface.

AM Hants

Haha, Boaty McBoatface, isn’t it trying to find Russian ships in the Arctic? Bet they had everything switched on and recording, when we escorted the Russian ship, through international waters?

Jerry Hamilton

See. Britain does have a boat that works.

Promitheas Apollonious

they do indeed.

AM Hants

Think even the Navy was surprised they could escort a Russian ship, that was in international waters.

I have to comment on this statement:-

“I will not hesitate in defending our waters or tolerate any form of aggression. Britain will never be intimidated when it comes to protecting our country, our people, and our national interests,”

No you will just bloody well open the ports and airports so the invader can flood in by the millions. London has already fallen.

AM Hants

You get social housing and benefits if you sneak in, uninvited, via a Soros funded NGO cruise.

If you are legally in international waters, you get a Navy escort, if we have an operational ship available.

World_Eye

No one needs to be escorted in International waters especially from someone like the US and NATO with this Brits, they think all international waters are theirs.

Promitheas Apollonious

they used to not any more.

Barba_Papa

It’s the equivalent of scrambling some fighters whenever a foreign aircraft comes close to national airspace. Everybody does that. Including the Russians. Any remember the footage of that Russian Sukhoi buzzing close to that American spyplane flying over the Black Sea near Russian airspace? Or that footage of that American frigate that got buzzed by Russian SU-24’s?

Why this case should get any attention in the media, and have the UK minister act toughly is a different matter altogether. Are only the USN and NATO allowed to send ships beyond its territorial waters? Everyone else and its suddenly an act bordering on war?

John Brown

What a liar you are. No its not natural for countries to do this when the ship from the other country is in a well know shipping lane. Is this done by any country near the straights of Gibraltar no. Does Egypt do this for the Suez canal when ships are actually in their country no, etc. etc. Does Panama do this? NO. Does Indonesia, NO, Thailand etc do this? NO!

AM Hants

Look at the intelligence they will hope to gain, by escorting the Russian ship through international waters. Whilst giving the MSM a few headlines, to keep them happy.

Nigel Maund

Typical UK hype over a very normal event! Usual MSM hyped up garbage. Remember the UK MSM is written for the mentally and educationally challenged! Most Sun. Mirror, Dail Mail and Express newspaper articles are only a slight advance on MARVEL comics and if anything less believable.

Lobjidutu

The Brits have sunk a long way – feeling threatened by one frigate?

Jaime Galarza

Who wants to intimidate the UK? Russia would definitely not send a single frigate if it wanted to do this. English propaganda. Fools.

Jesus

The British ship would be seriously outclassed by the russian frigate, the British ship employing Harpoon missiles (70 miles range) against Russian Oniks (600 kms @ Mach 3) and Kalibr ( range 2500 kms). British ship employing Sea Wolf point defense missiles, 32 missiles 1 to 10 kms range; the Russian frigate employing the Redut system with 32 9M96E2 and 9M96E missiles with ranges from 1km to 120kms.

Do the British sailors learn to swim in water, or in paranoia?
