Pro-opposition activists and media outlets are spreading a rumor that on December 31 a Russian military helicopter crashed in the northern Hama countryside as a result of a technical failure. Some sources went further and even claimed that 7 Russian military servicemembers died in the incident.
The helicopter allegedly crashed near the village of Umm al-Tayyar. However, no opposition source was able to provide photos or videos confriming the incident.
One of the pro-opposition media outlets, eldorar.com, even used a photo of US Apache attack helicopter to illustrate its claims.

I don’t know the truth in this matter. However, it is clear that in the hazardous business of war there will be accidents and losses. These thing are regrettable but there is no shame in them.
