Russia and China are ready to join efforts to counteract color revolutions, attempts to interfere in the internal affairs of sovereign countries and unilateral economic sanctions, the Russian Security Council press service said on Monday after the 11th round of Russian-Chinese consultations on strategic security.
The Russian and Chinese sides were represented by Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolay Patrushev and Yang Jiechi, a member of the State Council of China, respectively.
“The sides noted that Russia and China had a common approach to the key problems of regional and international security and expressed readiness to counteract ‘color revolutions’, attempts to interfere in the internal affairs of sovereign states and unilateral economic sanctions,” the Russian Security Council said .
In his speech at the consultations, Patrushev stressed that Russia and China that had suffered the biggest losses during WWII should be resolutely opposed to any attempts to revive fascism and falsify the results of the bloodiest conflict in human history.
Nikolay Patrushev and Yang Jiechi adopted a joint statement on the occasions of the 70th anniversary of Victory over fascism in WWII and the formation of the United Nations. “States should respect the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of each other; the choice of socio-political systems and ways of development. It is impossible to interfere in the internal affairs of other states and impose one’s will on others. We reject any attempts to change power from the outside and practice of imposing unilateral sanctions on the basis of national legal norms of separate states,” the joint statement said.
Russia and China also said they were ready to seek the creation of a multipolar world, support the supremacy of international law and democratize international relations.
“All countries of the world irrespective of their size, strength and economic abilities are equal members of the world community,” the document went on to say. “We will continue our efforts to build a fair world set-up based on collective principles and respect for cultural and civilizational diversity of modern world; maintain peace and international security and ensure sustainable development,” the joint Russian-Chinese statement said.
Patrushev and Jiechi called for settling differences and contradictions by means of dialogue and consultations. They also stressed the need to coordinate reaction to global challenges and threats.
