The Kherson region is preparing for heavy battles. The situation on the front lines remains extremely tense as the Armed Forces of Ukraine launch attacks on Russian positions in different areas in an attempt to advance towards the city of Kherson, where the official evacuation of civilians ended.
On November 8, Deputy Head of the Kherson regional Administration Kirill Stremousov claimed that Ukrainian units attempted to break through the defense line in the Kherson region. According to him, the Ukrainian attack was repelled. By the evening, Ukrainian assault operations continued.
The AFU attacked Russian positions in Pravdino, located 23 km west of Kherson in the Berislavsky direction. Before the attack, Ukrainian artillery shelled Russian positions with M777A2 and FH70 155 mm guns from Shevchenko and Novogrigoryevka. After heavy artillery fire, Ukrainian armored groups went on the offensive. Soon after the start of the movement of the AFU in the area, the Russian Su-25SM3 attack aircraft struck the Ukrainian M777A2 and FH70 howitzers. The Ukrainian attack was repelled.
Shortly after the advance of the AFU to the west of Kherson was stopped, Ukrainian units located on the northern Kherson front lines along the Novaya Kamenka — Polyanka —Sablukovka line went on the attack. The main direction of the Ukrainian strike were the villages of Sablukovka and Kachkarivka located the right bank of the Dnieper River. The advancing groups were supported by artillery fire from foreign artillery systems, including Czech RM-70 MLRS and Polish Krab self-propelled guns of the 406th Separate Artillery Brigade of the AFU. The positions of the AFU artillery were detected by Russian drones. Foreign systems were hit by at least two Lancet-3 drone attacks.
Russian positions along the Kachkarovka-Sukhanovo-Borozenskoye line were attacked by Ukrainian forces of at least a company of T-72M1 tanks of the 17th tank brigade of the AFU, two motorized infantry companies of the BMP-2 and M113 armored personnel carriers of the 60th separate mechanized brigade of the AFU, as well as at least ten Turkish Kirpi armored vehicles of the 128th Mountain Assault Brigade. The advancing Ukrainian forces were also detected by Russian drones and the marching columns were shelled by Russian forces from the left bank of the Dnieper River. After the Ukrainian offensive was stopped 8 km from Sukhanov and Pyatikhatki, Russian Mi-28N helicopters struck the AFU positions.
The AFU again suffered losses. The 128th Mountain Assault Brigade and the 46th Airmobile Brigade of the AFU were heavily affected. These units were thrown into battle on light armored personnel carriers. As a result of the Russian artillery fire, they reportedly lost more than 40 servicemen.
By the evening, there were reports of ongoing operations of the Ukrainian military on the Kherson front lines. According to preliminary information, the AFU attempted a breakthrough in the area of Snigirevka, which is 45 km north of Kherson. The offensive was also preceded by artillery fire. Fighting is ongoing in the area.

On the eve of the Ukrainian offensive, manoeuvres of ships were reported on the left bank of the Dnieper River. Satellite images of the Kherson region taken over the past week indicated that a large number of ships were deployed on the left bank of the city of Kherson. Act least 15 ships were noticed. Their deployment could be aimed both to prevent the crossing of the Dnieper by Ukrainian troops, and to conduct a counterattack in case of fighting for Kherson. They may also be used for transfer of Russian reinforcement to the right bank.

The organized evacuation of civilians to the left bank of the Dnieper ended yesterday. People are leaving the city by their own means. In the city itself, interruptions of electricity supplies continue, which is a consequence of the recent damage to the communication lines caused by the Ukrainian sabotage group. The administration has left the city.
The large-scale offensive of the AFU on Kherson is expected to begin in the coming days. The battle for the city may play a decisive role of the Ukrainian war. So far, Russian are holding their positions, repelling the ongoing Ukrainian attacks and strengthening their defences.

No reason to cross the Dnieper unless it’s just to hit a few targets and return. The Russians are telegraphing the new border and Russia’s new map will make the southern east bank of the Dnieper over to the Donbass and of course, Crimea. And that is how the war ends. Ukraine will flail but eventually agree.
No agreement will take place, peace agreement negotiation will be suddenly disrupted by special spectacular event. As result war will escalate. Before that Russia will be forced back (to very close) to its former borders and will lose everything it conquered (apart from Crimea). But afterwards Russia will re-invade and this time overrun the UKR forces because the Western economy USA and EU have imploded and cannot sufficiently support the Ukrainian military anymore. But till all this final stage happens there is much more than a year in between (but less than 7 years), and many deaths and destruction.
