Russia began production of an S-400 anti-aircraft missile system for India, the Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov said.

“Russia will deliver the S-400 to India within the time stipulated in the contract. In general, all obligations undertaken by the parties, including payment, are fully implemented. I’ll add that work is underway to create a training center in India,” he said.

In early October 2018, Russia and India signed a contract for the supply of S-400 systems.

Five regiments of the anti-aircraft missile systems will cost New Delhi $5.43 billion. This deal was called the largest in the history of Rosoboronexport. Completion of deliveries is scheduled for the first half of 2025.

So far, Turkey and China have concluded contracts for the delivery of S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems and have both received batches of the system.

In late November 2019, Turkey even successfully tested the system and is to activate it soon.

Turkey signed the contract for the supply of S-400 in December 2019.

In July 2019, China received its first batch. China signed the contract for the supply of S-400 sometime between November 2014 and November 2015, as initial rumors of the contract surfaced in November 2014, but Russian president’s adviser on military technical cooperation Vladimir Kozhin confirmed the information in November 2015.

The US has strongly antagonized the purchase of S-400, sanctioning the People’s Liberation Army under the Countering America’s Adversaries Through Sanctions Act (CAATSA), but despite that China followed through on the purchase.

It exerted great pressure on Turkey, even booting it out of the F-35 joint strike fighter program. Regardless, Turkey purchased the systems, tested them and is expected to activate them soon.

So far, the US hasn’t said it would sanction India for the purchase, but even if it did, the sanctions regime it was applying clearly aren’t effective, as its traditional ally Turkey entirely disregarded them, China was also undeterred.

Other traditional US allies such as the UAE and Saudi Arabia are also interested in procuring the anti-aircraft missile system.

Russia’s S-400 Triumf is along-range antiaircraft missile system that went into service in 2007. It is designed to destroy aircraft, cruise and ballistic missiles, including medium-range missiles, and surface targets. The system can hit aerodynamic targets at a range of up to 400 kilometers (249 miles) and tactical ballistic targets flying at a speed of 4.8 km/s (3 mi/s) at a distance of up to 60 kilometers (37 miles). Such targets include cruise missiles, tactical and strategic aircraft and ballistic missile warheads.

The system’s radars detect aerial targets at a distance of up to 600 kilometers (373 miles). The system’s 48N6E3 surface-to-air missiles can hit aerodynamic targets at altitudes of 10,000-27,000 meters and ballistic threats at altitudes of 2,000-25,000 meters.

If anyone was in doubt as to the brilliancy and stand alone class of the s400 air defence weapon the Indian and Chinese orders rubber stamp its position as the gold standard of ADS.

China have a brilliant military manufacturing complex, one only has to look at their anti-ship missile programme and their ultra modern naval power let alone their space exploration to reason that if they prefer to purchase an ADS from an outside source then it has to be the dogs-balls.

Again the Indians are sharp cookies also with their own nukes and space programme yet ordered the s400 in a heartbeat!

The CAATSA is an american act. It has no jurisdiction worldwide.

The S-400’s are clearly the better equipment. That, and the increase of american aggression, is the reason they are selling like hot cakes. US systems have been tested in anger but failed time and again, as witnessed recently and during both Gulf wars. The Patriot missile, so peddled by pappa bush every chance he got, was just as fake as he was and offered the same false hope.
