Russia Denies Speculations That It Deployed Ground Forces For Idlib Campaign

The Ministry of Defense of Russia denied on July 18 recent reports claiming that Russian special forces are taking part in the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) ground operations in Greater Idlib.

“News claiming the involvement of Russian special forces and ground forces in the battles in Idlib province is, yet again, false news … Russia has had no and has no ground forces in Syria,” an official statement by the ministry reads.

A day earlier, Reuters reported that the Russian military deployed special forces to support the SAA operations in Idlib, citing a spokesman for the Turkish-backed National Front for Liberation (NFL).

The spokesman, Cpt. Naji Mustafa, said that this was the first time Moscow had sent ground troops on the battlefield. As expected he provided no evidence what so ever to back his claims.

“These special Russian forces are now present in the battlefield. The Russians are intervening directly now,” Cpt. Mustafa told Reuters.

These false claims are nothing new. Over the last few years, opposition commanders mad many accusations against Damascus allies. Last year, some commanders claimed that Hezbollah and Iranian forces in Syria were using Russian flags to “hide from Israeli warplanes.”

That means they did deploy troops there .

AM Hants

So what if they did, at the end of the day they were invited by the democratically elected Government of the Sovereign nation.

Now remind me, why are the US and NATO members over in Syria?

No declaration of war. No invite to come and invade. No UN authorisation.

So what are they doing over there?

Didn’t Ukraine provide some of the chemical weapons, to their ISIS friends, on behalf of NATO members?

Who provided the rest?

Rob

I surprise that now there is no young talent in entire Syria that Assad bring them forward. Why the Syrian education is so much worst under Assad government.

Learn from David Cameron the UK PM as he found that I am not a good captain to lead the nation forward so he resigned. This is called a true leader and a true democracy. While Saddam and Qazzafi refused to resign and now look where they are now.

Assad and his entire cabinet knows that they have rip entire Syria apart and million innocent civilians butchered and still they are dying but still Assad not resigning. This butchery could be not happen if Assad could take some initial measures. This is a worst crime. Assad should quickly bring young talent forward and do election otherwise Assad knows his own and Syrian’s future.

Without a shadow of a doubt, Russia is the responsible adult in Syria. Only genuine and honest negotiations with Syria’s neighbors and the US will end this bloody war. Only Russia can lead such a negotiations.

RichardD

Winning te war requires more than negotiations. It requires defeating the enemy and returning lost territory to government control.

This one is goodie!??

I don’t understand why the Russians dont push the opportunity to end the Idlib operation by adding troops. https://media1.giphy.com/media/9xt5eMX6WhOhvfWajw/giphy.gif
