The Russian military is testing new sleeper FPV suicide drones which are designed to conduct ambushes behind enemy lines.
Ukrainian media shared video footage showing one such drone hiding under a bridge somewhere in the special military operation zone on July 2. Interestingly, the drone, guided via fiber-optic wires, was equipped with solar panels.
These sleeper FPV suicide drones are meant to fly far behind enemy lines, lay down near key routes, then activate when troops or military vehicles are passing by to target them.
While the fiber-optic wire provides a highly-secured high-speed data-link even at ground level, the solar panels allow the drone to recharge and maintain power for a fairly long period, possibly up to a whole day or more, while awaiting a target.
In recent months, the Russian military began to use fiber-optic guided FPV suicide drones to ambush Ukrainian troops and military vehicles near key routes in the special military operation zone. The only issue was that the drones couldn’t stay dormant for long due to power limitation. Solar panels solve this issue.
Over the past year, the Russian military expanded the use of FPV suicide drones significantly, especially the types guided via fiber-optic wires.
The Russian military is reportedly using hundreds of such drones everyday, with some sources even reporting as many as 1,000 strikes a day. The range of these drones have already reached 20-30 kilometers. Work is said to be ongoing on new types with a range of up to 50 kilometers.
With a secured data-link, a long range and more endurance than before, the new generation of cost-effective FPV suicide drones being developed by the Russian military could dominate the special military operation zone and any other battlefield.

i would fit ayatollah khamenei and anna sedokova and two liters of champagne into an empty cottage in siberia.
i would put maher al assad and bashar al assad and irna bolgar and anna sedokova and two liters of champagne into an empty cottage in siberia or the desert in the sahara.
ayatollah khamenei and anna sedokova should be placed in solitary confinement in prison, along with a liter of champagne and a bowl of strawberries.
this sleeper drones also would be great for surveillance of high value targets behind enemy lines to be targeted by larger guided weapons.
we only sleep with ugly obese transgender females in amerika–this explains why we are all mean bitter unhappy
you could almost start to cut off enemy forces and form cauldrons with drones like that, and eventually apply gerasimov’s idea of a fully robotic unit that can do its own airborne operation with ground bots and aerial drones, without putting any humans at risk
i have to say that i really enjoy this new form of warfare where only military targets and government officials are targeted. i’d watch that robot army walk right down the street on its way to take out sleazy politicos and i wouldn’t even lift a finger. a far better option than the world wars of the 20th century.
looks like someone rigged up their own recon drone. the solar panels would allow for a longer flight time. this isn’t a fiber optic drone. there’s no pg-7 or og-7 attached to it either. just a toy.
greta approves.
