On May 11, aide to President of Russia Vladimir Kozhin told Russian newspaper Izvestia that there had been no talks over a possible S-300 surface-to-air missile systems delivery to Syria.
“So far, there has been no talk of deliveries of modern new systems”, Kozhin said.
He also noted that the Syrian Arab Armed Forces have “all they need”.
According to the Russian state-run news agency Sputnik, Russian Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov declined to comment Kozhin’s remarks saying that it would be wrong to connect those statements with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s visit to Russia.
“We never announced these deliveries as such. However, we said that after the strikes [by the US, France and the UK on Syria], Russia reserves the right to do whatever it deems necessary,” Peskov said.
Netanyahu met with Russian President Vladimir Putin on May 9. Following the talks, the Israeli prime minister said he has no reason to believe Russia will attempt to limit Israel’s freedom of operation in the region.
“I told President Putin that it is our right and indeed our duty to take any steps required for to safeguard our security interests,” Netanyahu told reporters on a telephone briefing from Moscow airport, minutes before taking off en route back to Tel Aviv.
Let’s take a look how the S-300 story has developed since mid April:
First reports about the possible S-300 surface-to-air missile systems delivery to Syria appeared following a joint missile strike by the US, France and the UK on the country on April 14.
On April 14, at a press briefing in the Russian Defense Ministry, Head of the Russian General Staff’s Main Operations Directorate Sergei Rudskoi told reporters that Russia could renew the discussions over supplying S-300 missile systems to Syria “considering the latest developments”.
On April 16, Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov said that Russia was ready to consider any help for strengthening Syria’s defenses, including the S-300 surface-to-air missile systems.
On April 23, Russian media speculated quoting military-diplomatic sources that Russia could deliver its S-300 missile systems to Syria “within one month”. On the same day, Lavrov stated that the issue of Russia’s supplies of S-300 missile systems hadn’t been decided upon yet. Then, Peskov refused to comment on the delivery, when he had been asked about the growing complexity of the situation and with the possible supply of S-300 surface-to-air missile systems to Syria.

Yes, that is true, but is the S-300 system in this shipment ? I am not sure. Yes so the west can redo where it breaks again what they signed and ratified as agreement ? What is it about this statement that you don’t understand? Syria has 20 Mig 29s, 48 S-200 launchers, 28 Buk launchers and up to 90 Pantsir units, along with a lot of other air defense systems. They can take down Israeli and US coallition aircraft anytime that they like, with the possible exception of stealth aircraft under some circumstances.
S-300s would be a fractional improvement in some circumstances if used. But under most circumstances would not be used with the current rules of engagement. They’re not a magic cure that would stop Israeli attacks, because unless the rules of engagement change, they wouldn’t be used. So they would have little if any effect on the course of the war up to this date.

The right tíme for s300 deployment will be after all terrorist pockets are cleared and an multilayer air defense can be built on secured areas around Damascus and other towns and military based. At this point the best thing to do is to regain the rest of the territory and convince Russia to maintain large military presence afterward to unsure security from any future invasions(wont be to hard i think). The time to negotiate pipelines ended before 2011 already, i don’t see them going back…
I think that the growing number of tens of thousands of Palestinian forces Liwa Al Quds is considered a growing threat to Israel. Yes, Golan Heights is not Israeli but Quds fired those rockets at IDF in the Golan Heights and maybe now is not the time to be doing that, De Escalation of current conflicts is far too important. It’s not the right time for Syria to be declaring War on Israel over the Golan Heights. And they have lost out on the S-300’s as a result. The Israeli strikes on Syria were retaliation for those Strikes in Golan and on TASS News website it states that Israel warned Russia of those retaliation strikes before they happened under the official agreement between both Countries. I don’t think now is the time to be making war on Israel over Golan either. It was a bad move all around.
Israel started this incident the Israeli military conducted a number of artillery strikes against a Syrian Army post in Khan Arnabea which led to SAA returning fire by firing a number of mortars against the source of Israeli fire. Later the SAA fired 40 rockets into the Golan in response to tank fire coming from Israeli positions.

Putin probably decicded that Iran and Syria had gone too far in their last retaliatory attack on Israel. Not that Israel did not deserve the retaliation, but US opinion would not bear this.
Yet the Golan Heights were illegally annexed by Israel following the conclusion of the Six Days War back in 1967. It was only supposed to be a demilitarized zone that the IDF ended up occupying for an indefinite period of time.
It would be interesting to see Russia deploy the 150th ‘Idritsa-Berlin’ Motor Rifle Division to take part in retaking the Golan Heights at some point in the future, although this will probably never happen.
Then Putin is no real leader of the magnitude his fans want to make him out to be. Just another politician serving the international power establishment, of which many Russian oilgarchs want to be part of; just that he had a few objections, like Crimea.

There has been some Joint Intelligence work between US, Iraq, Turkey and no doubt Russia and Syria indirectly in capturing FOUR ISIS leaders together with the SDF with direct partnership with the Iraqi Govt, so there obviously have been some movements but the arrest and capture happened as they crossed the border from Syria to Iraq and they definitely wouldn’t have travelled that way if there was too much US presence there.
