Russia launched the advanced Yasen-M nuclear-powered submarine on December 25. The ceremony was held at the Sevmash shipyard in the city of Severodvinsk
The submarine is expected to join the Navy in 2020. The ship is capable of carrying all existing Russian cruise missiles. This is the first mass produced submarine of the Yasen-M type. The maiden Yasen-M submarine, the Kazan, is still undergoing naval trials and is expected to join the Navy in 2020.
4 more Yasen-M submarines of the type are under construction, and at least two more are expected to be laid down later.
Kursk was a nice movie from 2018, testing new technologies (like torpedoes) would be deadly. Or perhaps crashing with a spying US submarine off Murmansk?
