On July 20th, the official laying ceremony for the Russian Navy of the project 23900 Ivan Rogov and Mitrofan Moskalenko amphibious assault ships took place.
The ceremony took place at the at the Zaliv Shipyard LLC in Kerch, in the presence of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Together with the general director of the Zaliv plant, Igor Obrubov, Vladimir Putin installed an honorary party for the Ivan Rogov amphibious assault ship.
Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov, Deputy Defense Minister Alexei Krivoruchko, Commander-in-Chief of the Navy Nikolai Evmenov installed the same part for the Mitrofan Moskalenko amphibious assault ship.
In May 2020, the Russian Ministry of Defense signed a contract with the Zaliv Shipyard LLC for the construction of the first two Russian project 23900 universal amphibious assault ships of project for a total amount of about 100 billion rubles ($1.4 billion).
The materials on the 23900 project developed by the ZPKB were first publicly demonstrated during a visit by Putin on January 9th, 2020 to an exposition dedicated to the prospects for the development of the Russian Navy, in the building of the Black Sea Higher Naval Order of the Red Star in Sevastopol, Crimea.

Separately, also, on July 20, at JSC Production Association Severnoye Machine-Building Enterprise, a solemn ceremony was held for the laying of two multipurpose nuclear submarine cruisers Voronezh and Vladivostok for the Russian Navy.
The two multipurpose nuclear submarines are of the modified project 08851 (Yasen-class).
The lead nuclear-powered submarine of the fourth generation of the project 885 series, K-560 “Severodvinsk” was laid down at the NSR on December 21st, 1993 and transferred to the Russian Navy for trial operation on June 17th, 2014.
“Today we are laying down ships with hypersonic weapons, which are the future of the Russian submarine fleet,” Sevmash General Director Mikhail Budnichenko said, addressing Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“There are seven years of construction ahead. Completion date – 2027, 2028. Sevmash together with the designers of SPMBM “Malakhit”, and other cooperation organizations will fulfill the assigned tasks.”
The commander of the Northern Fleet of the Russian Navy, Vice-Admiral Alexander Moiseev, and Acting Governor of the Arkhangelsk Region, Alexander Tsybulsky, installed an honorary part at the submarines.

Also, on July 20th, again, in St. Petersburg at PJSC Severnaya Verf Shipyard, a ceremony was held for the simultaneous laying of two modified project 22350 frigates for the Russian Navy, named Admiral Yumashev and Admiral Spiridonov.
The ceremony was held via videoconference with the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, who was at the Zaliv Shipyard LLC in Kerch.
