Russia May Deploy Ground Forces To Syria On Assad Government Request - Media Reports

FILE IMAGE

Fresh speculations have been circulating in the media that Russia is preparing to deploy its ground forces to Syria following an expected official request by the Syrian government.

The reports refer to some unknown military sources and argue that the plan of the deplyoment already exists. (Probably, the only realistic part of the reports. Any command staff exists to develop plans for various operations and deployments.)

For example, the Iranian state-run media outlet Press TV:

The sources, speaking on condition of anonymity, revealed on Monday that the Russian special forces were ready to be deployed in the areas where Syrian troops were engaged in serious battles against the terrorist groups.

They further noted that the technical aspects of the plan had already been drawn up, and that it would be implemented once the Damascus government puts in an official request and Russian President Vladimir Putin issues the order.

Another Iranian media outlet Fars News released own version of the story:

Syrian military sources revealed that Moscow has informed Damascus of its preparedness to dispatch ground troops to Syria.

Al-Hadath news quoted the sources as saying that Russia has announced that in case of the Syrian army’s request it is ready to send ground forces to Syria.

The sources said that special Russian forces are prepared to be deployed in regions which are experiencing the most pressures by the terrorist groups.

The current reports about a possible Russian ground forces deployment to Syria could be tracked to the Israeli news website “Ynetnews”. It reported in the April 24 article following:

Sources in the Syrian army said that Russia had expressed willingness to deploy ground forces into Syria if an official request was received from Syrian President Bashar Assad.

In an interview with Al-Quds Al-Arabi, the sources said the Russian Defense Ministry stated it was ready to deploy special forces to places where there could be pressure from rebels in the country.

The sources added that Iran was prepared to expand its participation in battles in Syria, including sending ground forces.

These reports have two problems:

  1. The Russian Special Operation Forces are already deployed in Syria;
  2. No reports from the Moscow-linked media outlets appeared about a possibility of ground forces deployment in Syria.

Russia going to Syria is a necessary move. Trump demonstrated an American willingness to open fire on Syrian troops on Syrian soil, with the only sure protective factor being the presence of Russians. Syria moved all its jets to the Russian airbase. It is unknowable the next time Trump intervenes on behalf of the jihadists on some pretext. Russian assets are needed for Syria in large numbers to secure Syrians assets from American attack. There is also the matter of effectively working with the SDF, the Turkish and other groups who may have a problem burying the hatchet with the Assad but are open to persuasion through intermediaries. At this points, Russians feel that their direct involvement may be necessary for peace because the great powers and the US are directly placing their finger on the scale for international jihadism. Also, as the Russians continue to deploy more advanced equipment such as the Uran-9, direct involvement of Russian operators will become necessary, possibly attached to scores of Lebanese, Syrian and Iranian infantry. The exact makeup of the force will be interesting to see. I suspect these will be all volunteer regimen, with newest EW and Armor, and disgusting helicopters.

John Brown

Russia can do it for a limited amount of time rotating its units there for better training, along with a Chinese deployment and then an Iranian deployment a few months later, so all 3 can have a large military base in Syria. Russia’s base where it is,China in the South West of Syria near Jordan and Israel and Iran’s base near Deir Azur.

Iran also needs to have both a large Russian and a large Chinese military base on its territory to discourage any USSA attack.

Aleks Black

The Chinese are not going to Syria. They like the fact that it is a sensitive area between US and Russia/Iran. Iran has impressive capabilities and they do not need russian or chinese bases at this time, but if US aggression pesists, you will begin seeing deploying of missiles, then russian jets to iranian air bases.

John Brown

If Israel wants the USSA to destroy Iran they can. They can’t occupy but they can destroy like Iraq, Libya etc and that is the idea. Iran needs those Russian and Chinese and even Indian bases for protection. If China sits back on Syria like you say they will lose to Jews again as they did in the 1800s when the Sasoons, the Rothschild’s of the East flooded China with opium turning China from a first world to a third world country from which China is only now recovering. If China sits back again like they did then they will deserve it.

Even Sun Tzu said one should fight when equally matched and with Russia they are more than a match for the Zionist slave empire. China sat back in Sudan and lost. Sat back in Libya and lost sat back in Myanmar and lost etc etc. China wins the peace but they let the USSA Zionist slave empire, win with military conquest and means with no fight at all. China could make it a lot more costly for the USSA and the Zionist slave empire (to conquer more Goyims) when the Zio economy is already on the brink of collapse. China could at least supply proxies with arms in such areas to defend their own and the local and Chinese interests from Judeao genocide of innocent Goyims.

Jonathan Cohen

It would be far more realistic to ask China to fight ISIS and Taliban in Eastern Afghanistan, far closer to home.

John Brown

China can do that too but why bother they can back the Taliban that are China and Russia friendly and the Chinese are needed in Syria now to deter racist, supremacist, Jewish aggression and the Chinese armed forces probably need the training and combat experience as well.

Jonathan Cohen

Taliban seem Uigher separatist friendly to me.

John Brown

No it is Israel and its ISIS and Al Cia Da puppets and creations that hate China

ISIS once ‘apologized’ to Israel for mistakenly attacking their ally and master Israel and IDF soldiers – confesses former Defense Minister

Jonathan Cohen

Taliban defended Al Qaeda to the hilt, so If China wants to destroy alQaeda, it must fight Taliban too. Your link doesn’t contradict that!

John Brown

You are full of it Mossad agent. To defeat ISIS and China must defeat their creator and backer and their true capital Israel. Without Israel they would both case to exist in a month or 2. This is why China needs a big military base with nukes right beside Israel and there will be instant peace. https://www.rt.com/news/386027-isis-apologized-israel-golan/I

You won’t see this on our heavily censored Jewish owned media. This should be front page news and on every T.V channel. Where are the sanctions and Toma Hawk cruise missile strikes on Israel for this??

ISIS once ‘apologized’ to Israel for mistakenly attacking their ally and master Israel and IDF soldiers – confesses former Defense MinisterISIS is Israel, Israel is ISIS nothing beats the confession.

“There was one case recently where Daesh opened fire and apologized,” Ya’alon said on Saturday, as cited by the Times of Israel. http://www.timesofisrael.com/ex-defense-minister-says-is-apologized-to-israel-for-november-clash/

Yes I don’t think ISIS apologizes to France, Britain, Germany, the USA etc etc. They show this in Israeli media but if any media or politician in the Israeli occupied slave empire showed it or talked about it here they would be called racist, arrested etc. for talking about and reporting on the truth. Nothing beats a confession this time from the Israeli defense minister. Is there any doubt who the creators and masters of ISIS and Al Cia Da are??? Is the times of Israel anti Jewish and against Israel for saying this???

Jonathan Cohen

I didn’t say Al Qaeda was or wasn’t allied with Israel. I said Al Qaeda was allied to Taliban and Uighur separatists fighting China and therefor China has reason to fight Taliban. Israel is rather distant from that whole scene, so I made no claims as to their role in East Afghanistan/West China.

Jonathan Cohen

Your RT link doesn’t work.

John Brown

Here it is again, but I have Times of Israel link any way which is better proof, because nothing beats a confession.

https://www.rt.com/news/386027-isis-apologized-israel-golan Al Qaedi is not allied to the Taliban there is no proof of that other then Mossad CIA disinfo as Al Qaedi is created by and allied to Israel and Saudi Arabia and the Israeli controlled USSA government. See some proof of the IDF hanging out with their Al Qaedi buddies. There are also pictures of Al Qaedi and ISIS fighters in Israeli hospitals shaking hands with the Israeli PM Nutsinyahoo etc .etc. if you want to see them. See the link for that below.

Nothing to see here

Mr. Costelol

In NATO’s war against Serbs 1999, China provided limited material and intelligence support – we’re grateful nevertheless. 3 Chinese diplomats were killed by NATO.

Kell

Yes I agree Russia needs to enter now, the US has tipped the balance and this needs redress – im wondering what did you mean by Discusting Helicopters?

Aleks Black

So far, the rebels have been experiencing the previous generations russian helicopters, piloted mostly by Egyptian and other arab pilots after short courses on their capabilities in Russia. There are rumors that in order to increase the capabilities of the syrian army, there is a plan to reinforce the Syrian infantry with boatloads of helicopters, models like the mi35, ka-52. It will be interesting to see these helicopters in action, and without substantial involvement from the west, in form of manpads, the jihadists are going to get masacred. Should manpads be introduced, it will be a true test of russian latest gen EW tech vs missiles. very interesting stuff.

John Brown

If the Zionist slave empire gives map pads to ISIS and Al cia Da, so many jet liners will be shot down in Europe that civil aviation will come to a halt for years and there will be economic chaos, economic collapse, revoultion and the end of the racist, supremacist, global, Jewish slave empire.

Jonathan Cohen

complex and delicate compared to Su-39. ugly too. why Russia has no slower airplanes like A-10 or OV-10 is beyond me. Even SU-39 has speed that is wasted on ground attack and should have been traded for armor like A-10. I learned syria has no SU-25, only mig 23. Seems like Su25/39 is the ticket to me, backed up by L-39 and yak130.

Aleks Black

Grach or the su-25 is the Russian equivalent of the a-10. It is an amazing ground attack aircraft that can take an incredible beating and still stay in the fight. Su-25 is probably one of the most under-appreciated soviet treasures. I think in the next few years, the plane will continue to make dents on the battlefield. The trainer jets should not have a mainstream combat role.

Daniel Rich

@ Aleks Black,

The MIG-15 was also a plane that could take a hell of a beating when it was introduced into the Vietnamese ToO. In fact the whole Russian nation can take one hell of a beating and bounce back.

Mr. Costelol

I ran across a field carrying munitions for my troop under a-10 fire in the region of Dechani (Serb monastic lands) on Serbian Kosovo – I have never heard a worse sound than an a-10 firing it’s DU munitions (at me). I have been carpet bombed by B52 bombers – so I can compare.

Aleks Black

Very few people live to tell about this experience. You are a blessed man =)

Mr. Costelol

We were too close to NATO forces so if they missed us, they would be killing their own troops – we exploited this. ; )

Mr. Costelol

I personally, freaked out cutting a man out of his house (his legs) leveled by B52 carpet bombings – he didn’t survive. I…………..still …live …it.

Aleks Black

Wouldn’t it be nice if the USA wasn’t on the side of jihad?

Mr. Costelol

I have North American relatives who are American Vets – I still can’t believe the PNAC stupidity.

Aleks Black

This is why Trump is a disappointment. It was a chance to reshape the world against barbarism. He chose to support the jihadists.

Mr. Costelol

Agreed, bro.

Tudor Miron

Su-25 is one of the most appreciated planes – by Russian ground forces that is. It’s not that sleek and good looking but it is a very well proven plane. Coupled with new avionics (Su-25SM) it is still a great plane for CAS missions.

Jonathan Cohen

SU-25 is a lot faster than A-10, and they must have compromised something to get that speed, which is not needed for ground attack. If speed was needed for ground attack then ground attack helicopters would be useless. the Russians have very little to fill the ground attack speed gap between 200 and 600 mph as does the A-10. light ground attack like OV-10 proved very useful against insurgencies especially if less training was needed and it could be used in real quantity. http://foxtrotalpha.jalopnik.com/ov-10-broncos-were-sent-to-fight-isis-and-they-kicked-a-1764407068

Aleks Black

Su- 25 is a fast bird, especially after it drops the payload. Speed doesn’t hurt in a ground attack component, neither is the ability to hightail it home after the bombs are dropped. I think you underestimate the pounding the su-25 can take. Ov-10 is another bastard child that was never allowed to meet its potential. I think pilots can deliver a lot more bang for the buck with su-25 than all these trainer/pseudomilitary aircraft.

Jonathan Cohen

Something must have been sacrificed to get that speed. either armor or cost or accuracy or loiter time or payload.

Aleks Black

Su-25 has less armor than the a-10, it also has huge wings. Like the above comments say, the Russians infantry loves this thing, and with new avionics, its a real beast.

Aleks Black

Cool Russian song about su-25

Aleks Black

Can not wait to see those babies in action.

Jonathan Cohen

They do look like flying turds, send sleek L-39s instead.

Jonathan Cohen

The more military forces go to Syria to fight ISIS, the less can be near Ukraine or Korea to threaten each other. So the more the merrier. The US, Russia, NATO, Sweden, China, and both Koreas have enough military to totally flatten the Jihadists, so GO FOR IT! And leave the rest of the world in peace.

Aleks Black

There are different branches of the US government who do not always agree. The pentagon has relationships with FSA. The CIA through its Saudi/Qatar network supports ISIS. The proof of their cooperation can be seen in various major operation where ISIS and FSA work to give each other the advantage, like when Aleppo was under SAA siege, and ISIS attacked Palmyra, or when ISIS was on the run in Deir Hafer, but the FSA launched a massive assault on north Hama. There are other subtle clues, like the fact that Turks and their FSA friends failed to produce any tangible results in their battle with ISIS, or the Turkish relationship with the FSA and the ISIS oil empire. There are all sorts of evidence for anyone willing to connect the dots. With respect to Ukraine. I don’t think you know what you are talking about. There is no relationship between Ukraine and Syria. Ukraine is a direct extension of the NATO threat into the Russian sphere of influence. Whether you believe this or not, Ukraine involved a western back coup in toppling the government in order to deal a deadly blow to the slavic people, it succeeded in many ways despite the military failures of the Kiev regime. Korea is another type of a situation all together where an arrogant new leader of the free world is attempting gangster style negotiations with a nuclear-armed midget who engages in magical thinking and has no problem using chemical weapons or ending the world. Cumulatively, the west could destroy the ME, however, the threat the west faces will not come in form of missiles, or planes, or nukes. It is people, coming across the border, bringing with them intolerant, violent ideas, that are more dangerous to the west than nuclear weapons in the hands of a fanatic.

Jonathan Cohen

My principle is extremely simple. It is that no soldier or tank can be in two places at once. Therefore the more are in Syria fighting ISIS, the fewer can be in Eastern Europe or East Asia fighting each other. If ALL the tanks and soldier are in Syria fighting ISIS, than NONE can be in Eastern Europe or East Asia to fight each other, and Eastern Europe and East Asia must be at peace for lack of soldiers and tanks.

Aleks Black

It wouldn’t work. Putin can invade Europe and still have enough troops to deal with Korea and Syria. I wouldn’t call what is happening in Ukraine fighting either. The Ukranian army has no real ability to attack the separatists while they are reinforced by the Russians. It’s not peaceful, but I wouldn’t exactly call it war either. You couldn’t import enough Jihadis into Syria to make Putin run out of tanks, even if he wasn’t stockpiling T-72s like he had enough to rain them onto Syria Ukraine and Korea at the same time like frogs in that movie. It’s not that your strategy has no theoretical merit, but it’s a bit like pissing in the sea. There will be no war in Asia, unless Trump starts one.

Jonathan Cohen

I didn’t say all Russian soldiers and tanks, I said all soldiers and tanks, on all sides. every soldier and tank on earth should be sent to Syria to fight ISIS. Every N. Korean tank, every S. Korean tank, every Chinese tank, every Taiwanese tank, every Ukrainian tank, every NATO member tank, AND every Russian tank. The rest of the world needs to be completely demilatarized; and ISIS needs to be hit with overwhelming force.

Jesus

This war has to be won and brought to a swift conclusion, waiting for SAA to develop and be reorganized only prolongs the jihadi survival. Destroy and eliminate the boots on the ground serving the western interests and if the sponsors of terrorism do not cease and desist, they can taste the same misery they brought on the Syrian people.

Aleks Black

I am not a fan of foreign intervention generally by anyone, anywhere. In this case, there may simply be no alternative, other than to watch Syria be destroyed by the US and the terrorists in Syria.

Jesus

The real alternative maintaining the status quo is, the terrorists are going to be systematically destroyed as SAA gets stronger and more proficient and US sphere of influence in the ME is going to diminish. Russia is in Syria to stay.

Aleks Black

I think there is a bigger role for Iran to play in Syria. Russia should do all it can to limit its involvement to the merchant, technical expertise. I say this because the loss of Russian life could lead to the change of political winds in Russia. The only way this will fly is if the soldiers are volunteers, victory is swift, and the involvement is short term. Russia has neither the political nor economic capital for fighting with Nato and Gulf monarchies simultaneously. Syria however, is not just a blood drain. I think there is value for the Russians in the form of airbases, oil contracts, weapon sales. The vast, lawless portions of Syria must be brought under control. I like the idea of using a mix of Iranian/Lebanese infantry, with Russian jets/helicopter and technicals. However, to reduce the loss of life, I like the introduction of various robotic tech, like the Uran-9. It would be interesting to test several other models of incentives to kill terrorists.

Jesus

Russia is the new power broker in ME, the current war effort does not cost them much more than having large scale training exercises in Russia, they have abundant soviet ordinance that can be expanded over Syria many times over. Syria presents itself as an ideal testing ground for all their new weapon systems, and also provides an opportunity to test enemy emissions and data linkages. Russia has the political and economic capital to face the borg, its been happening since the sanctions were imposed, Russian rearmament program continues and it has been extended through 2025, economically they are learning to be self sufficient, and they have the resources to do so; on the other hand countries making up NATO suffered e onomically more as a result of the sanctions, and gulf monarchies drained their reserves when the oil prices dropped, while Russia’s reserves stayed about the same. Gulf monarchies are dependent on US, regardless of how many weapons they purchase, their military ineptitude is rather severe as demonstrated by events in Yemen.

Russia can attack all the gulf monarchies with conventional weapons deployed within its borders, while gulf monarchies cannot do anything. If Russia was to deploy more troops in Syria, a lot of them would be contract soldiers, emphasis being on heavy firepower, SPGs and MRLS, and a few tank regiments.

Jesus

You are not a fan of foreign intervention, yet you seem ambivalent at the destruction of Syria by proxie jihadist foreign armies supported by US, Qatar and SA.

Aleks Black

I am not sure what you are talking about. At no point in any of my comments have I supported jihadist armies. You must be confusing me with someone else, or it is a reading comprehension issue you have to resolve. I have been accused of many things, but never a jihadist supporter.

cheetah88

and how did syria fit its 400+ jets onto the one russian airbase?

Aleks Black

not ‘all’ just valuable attack jacks like su-22, su-23, su 24. If you are going to waste my time with silly questions, i won’t give you any answers ;)

cheetah88

ok but you did say all, and you did answer me as well.

Aleks Black

For future replies, avoid the autistic unlikely interpretation of a statement just to make your point make sense.

Russell A Wilson

By putting Russian boots on the ground in large numbers will guarantee a confrontation with the US. It probably is required considering the military build up of US forces in the north east and on Syrian Jordan border. With that being said I am sure Russia will avoid it till the last possible moment as they prefer to negotiate a peaceful settlement. The US will keep pushing as this is not about Syria at all it is too save the US dollar from destruction.

The US controlled “Terrorist Axis” is already poised to break out of NW – Idlib, SW – Deraa, E – Deir al Azzor, N – Turk and overrun Syria all in the Damascus direction.

The “Terrorist Axis” can do it very easily because the trial run in Dec 2016 of 4,500 IS Terrorists drove 200+ KM across Syria completely unchallenged and took Palmyra v2 within minutes.

John Whitehot

if they can do it easily, they still haven’t. We will see.

It is a known fact that Russia talks big, makes noise but does nothing and backs off against both the US, Israel, Turkey and other Terrorist Axis countries.

If there is no large scale action from Russia or Iran then Syria is doomed to constant battles and chaos until it is exhausted and Mr Assad’s government falls.

Scenario: The “Terrorist Axis” will be planning their next Chemical Weapons false flag

Trump is not someone who plays a waiting game, he will order a much bigger strike on Syria.

That’s why its crucial to have the Russian Military start up and take control of Command and Control.

Plus at least 200,000 Iranian troops in Syria taking control of all areas that are in terrorist control and available to absorb and counter strike when the “Terrorist Axis” break out from their bulges.

Nothing has changed, the Russians are deliberately allowing Syria to slowly fall apart.

Battleplan Failure: 1. Intelligence gathering of the terrorists, their assets and movements:

Both the Russian and Syrian Military allowed approx 4500 terrorists to capture Palmyra v2 by driving unhindered across the desert from Mosul, in December 2016.

Battleplan Failure: 2. Force Ratio, prepare the forces and equipment to halt the terrorists:

The 4,500 convoy of terrorists would have used approx 450 vehicles, “Pickup Trucks”, 10 terrorists per truck.

Not one single truck was targeted whatsoever.by the Russian Air Group as it drove across 200+ Km of highway with no checkpoints.

This indicates that the Russian Military is allowing terrorists to control certain areas and regions and the Syrian Military has is no Battleplan in place.

Battleplan Failure: 3. Counter Strike to destroy the terrorists in Palmyra.

Due to lack of manpower, lack of equipment, lack of coordination, lack of Command and Control, the Syrian Military has taken many months to oust the 4,500 terrorists from Palmyra v2, Dec 2016, Jan / Feb / March / Apr 2017 and many of the IS are still loose or embedded in and around Palmyra.

Battleplan requires 1. Intelligence gathering of the terrorists 2. Force Ratio, prepare the forces and equipment to carry out a 3. Counter Strike to destroy the terrorists

All of the above are failures and the same situation continues.

Daniel Martin

Well said.

Jonathan Cohen

Russia/US alliance against ISIS in Syria is exactly what is needed to avoid Russia US confrontation, especially elsewhere, but even is Syria, where they have someone to fight other than each other.

Jesus

Deployment of large Russian forces at the request of the Syrian government gives the Russians the moral and legitimate reason to act in a legal manner in defending the country from mercenaries supported by the US coalition whose end goal is regime change. Current US troop levels in Syria and around Syria is low, I do not see it getting much higher, since their strategic position is rather dubious. Engaging in mindless wars and adding to the deficit is a self imploding process of the dollar destruction.

Alex

Unfortunately it’s the only way to get war experience, i mean, even the most modern equipment is useless if the soldiers don’t know how to fight.

CyricRenner

Someone should explain that to China. Being on the sidelines means you have no idea how your armed forces will perform in actual combat.

U$ troops got “PTSD’s” from fighting Afghani cave men and hundreds of them are committing suicide every week as result of it. They will really be messed up if they try to fight Russians and battle-hardened Syrian army and their allies in Syria.

Fatflanker

‘Battle-hardened Syrian army’…are you joking? Very experienced at getting their butts kicked perhaps. A broken, ragtag army, repeatedly man-shamed on the battlefield by disorganised and poorly equipped militias and now totally reliant on Russian air power and Iranian (Iraqi) militias to do their fighting. You really think there were no cases of PTSD amongst Russian veterans of Afghanistan or Georgia?

Approx a couple of weeks before the US missile strike on Sharyat, the Israel was put on final notice by Russia not to go anywhere in Syrian air space.

At that time BBC TV News showed a news reel of an angry and fuming grossly short fat Avigdor Lieberman wearing an ill fitting crumpled suit and tie, his shirt collar popping up.

On that TV news reel, Lieberman was threatening to destroy the Syrian Airforce as a result of Syria shooting missiles at 4 Israeli jets that were about to bomb a Syrian Military base near Damascus.

As a result of Lieberman’s threats Israel was put on final notice by Russia not to go anywhere in Syrian air space.

Subsequently Israel as good as ordered Trump to bomb Syria resulting in the 59 Tomahawk missiles fired at Sharyat Airbase.

Yes, you could be right in your assessment.

Most of the time, Mr Putin shows that Russia is feeble and unable to act against Israel or the US axis which is why Syria is in an almighty mess.

Checked other media and read this from Reuters “…it remained unclear if the source of the bombardment in Quneitra province was an air strike or shelling…”

Good god, so you report a story to tell everyone that its a non story with click bate? You used to be way better than this. Not a good sign. Also SF look at the comments, its clear half, hell more then half don’t read the written stories. They are trying to figure out where the deployed troops are located, or going to. Good news is the Russian units will be hosted by the Chinese bases in Syria. Make more videos if you wish to share any info. Short very short videos, preferably animated.

Daniel Castro

It is the next logic step, I had said they were going to Syria the day Trump launched the missile attack.

Jesus

Every solution in Syria is going to be defined by success on the battlefield. The only reliable ally Russia has in the area is Iran, Iran providing more troops and Russia deploying approx 20,000 troops equipped with the latest hardware to fully crush the jihadist insurgencies in western Aleppo and northern Hama, and going deep into Idling; air dropping an airborne brigade north of Deirdre Ezzor would give the Americans something to think about. Reinforcing the air group with more strike aircraft and using Iran based bombers and supply planes would give the airborne brigade plenty of daylight to clean the ISIS nests and relieve Deir Ezzor. Real battles would cost jihadis hundreds even thousands of casualties in a day or two.

US is not able to negotiate in good faith and Trump’s fake news and whims are not to be relied on. If they insist on a showdown they will get embarrassed again, except this time they will suffer heavy casualties.

More

Jesus There is no sense in Iran keeping IRGs at their bases polishing their weaponry and marching back and forth.

Iran needs to send upwards of 200,000 plus IRGs to Syria and start taking control of every town and city that is in terrorist hands and ensure they cannot return as in Palmyra v2.

The accommodation and facilities exist in Syria to house them as prior to 2011, the Syrian Armed Forces numbered 325,000.

Jesus

Yes, IRG can be deployed in greater numbers, they have to become battle acclimated to some degree until greater numbers come in. From today’s perspective and requirements an initial deployment of 25-30,000 troops would be a a good move, followed by similar moves within few months interval.

Read the article people. NOT going.

United Snakes of America SOF (Special Operation Forces) are there in Syrian land without request of Syrian President, supporting and financing all terrorists groups in Syria since 2011. United Nation is just a joke. Please Russia send your SOF to Syria and stop USA brutality in Syria.

christianblood

Well-said!

Jonathan Cohen

Please send ALL military against ISIS so that none can make war near Ukraine or Korea, US, NATO, Sweden, China and both Koreas too.

CyricRenner

Its the worst kept secret Russian troops are already in Syria. 5,000 to 7,000 in total is the estimate. There were almost as many Russians as Syrians in the retaking of Palmyra. I guess they need the window dressing of Damascus formally authorizing it. I guess Putin finally understands that Regime change is back on the menu. In fact it never left.

Julian McCrann

Are there more Russian or US troops in Syria? Honestly – I don’t know. But given the Russians have been invited in to defend the legitimate Government of Syria it would be perverse in the extreme if there weren’t more Russian troops in Syria.

Does anyone know?

John

There is some very muddy stuff going on here but, a couple of things are for sure. To me, I want the war to end and the Syrian people to get their country back. They are going to remember who did what to them for a long time and the media will not be able to cover the tracks of the guilty parties.

First off, the Taliban in Afghanistan, just gave the world a fresh reminder of what US firepower gets anybody; nothing. They delivered a devastating attack to a regional HQ and then followed it up with a vehicle bomb on the doorstep of a US super spook HQ. These examples are simple in that they demonstrate that firepower will never bring peace or victory against modern day big leaguers.

Second, the story itself fails the smell test of artificial media hype. Russia is doing a near text book perfect job of helping the SAA get their legs back under them, in a very real world environment. It is without doubt for me, that I am witnessing something militarily stunning. The Russians are with the Syrians, they are fighting and dying next to them, the officers no less, and a more solid cohesiveness is growing within the Syrian forces. It is not just the gear guys.

Okay, what is the US doing on the other side of the coin? pffffffffft …… that is the end of that part of it.

In my opinion, Russia is very cognizant of how things really are going for everybody. I do not see why they need to break the tempo of anything they are doing. The US is uninvited in Syria and will someday be forced to confront that. Russia is an invited guest of Syria and is not under the long term time constraints the US is facing. Therefore, Russia need only continue doing exactly what is has been doing, the whole time. I wish a good evening to all.

Jonathan Cohen

I want every soldier on earth to crush ISIS and HTS and leave the rest of the world in peace while they do so.

George King

There is an arrogance in the US lack of respect for Geneva conventions as well as the UN Security Counsel and that as well as Israel’s illegal occupation of the Golan Heights that can not stand. The Golan issue must be resolved by threat or action that sets precedence of law and penalties for non compliance and military force under the UN existing laws.

John

So you are talking about an expanded role by Russia?

George King

Expanding Syria’s ability to defend and govern all of Syria as I also agree on the tempo. Russia has learned from its history and rediscovered (reclaimed) Christian roots. Although the human suffering is not over, the future has been written in Syria and Ukraine most notably.

John

Thank you George. What I am seeing is that Russia is playing a very long term game here. Whatever they are doing is meant to last. This is very bad news for the ‘opposition’, their backers, Erdogan, the GCC, EU and US, as well as being a real tough nut to crack for Israel locally. Russia is back, nobody can just do whatever they wish. They are closing the free for all step by step.

Eventually, the SAA will be deadly for the IDF. Also, very frankly, Israel suffers from the same thing going on in the US and other places; the inhabitants nolonger have the metal possessed by it’s founders. They mask it with ‘air power’ but, the days of the piloted aircraft are nearly numbered. There are all kinds of ways to counter CAS now and that list grows all the time. There could come a point where real blood is shed, serious casualties and we would see who the tough guys really are.

I met survivors of the concentration camps, knew their families, I grew up with a neighbor, an American Jew who did land at Normandy and fought the Nazi’s, living to tell what he wished. I met others that served and sacrificed. Not to belittle the difficulties some experience with attacks and such in Israel but, it’s nothing compared to what it took to get Israel up and running in the first place. If Israel had to go through what Syria is experiencing now, they would not like it and possibly would not survive.

The Golan heights was taken by a determined and dedicated crowd. They are dead and gone now, for the most part, with none to replace them. Whether or not it will be held long into the future, is in doubt. Borders have changed over there forever. So, more or less, I am just waiting to see what happens next. I wish well to you George.

George King

Aye, On the “American Jew and Israel ” you may be interested in this article; “When Einstein was offered the Israeli presidency, Israeli Prime Minister David Ben Gurion stated, “I’ve had to offer him the post because it was impossible not to, but if he accepts we are in for trouble.” In a letter written in the same year, Einstein compared the Zionists’ project with that of the Pilgrims, noting, “how tyrannical, intolerant and aggressive [they] became after a short while.” And in Einstein’s last media interview, which ran in the New York Post a month before his death, he stated “We had great hopes for Israel at first. We thought it might be better than other nations, but it is no better.” “The only question that really matters: Why?” “Why have we not Known?” https://www.opednews.com/articles/The-only-question-that-re-by-George-King-Co-existence_Death_Fascist_Israel-170410-906.html

Thruth12k

we need Russia to stop saying “Maybe” and actually go through with it. These western thugs are doing as they please.

More

Thruth12k Plus along with what you wrote, Mr Putin and Mr Lavrov have to stop calling them “Our Partners”.

Otherwise (regretfully) both Mr Putin and Mr Lavrov need to be kicked left, right and centre until they stop calling them “Our Partners”. and start calling them the “Terrorist Axis”:

The US, UK, France, NATO, Turkey, Saudi, Qatar, etc, are the “Terrorist Axis” well known facilitators of Terrorism in Syria and other countries by financing, arming and training terrorists as well as unlawful oil and weapons trafficking and trading with terrorists.

Mr. Costelol

I agree (they are the terrorist axis!!!), Russian diplomacy is weird – yet, they negotiate till the end, till war! This baffles me – it’s a different school of diplomacy – but the key word is DIPLOMACY!

It’s as if they’re addressing tampons.

More

Mr. Costelol Because of this “Diplomacy”, Mr Putin and Russia are not taken seriously, they are ridiculed by the west.

The sad part is the Neoconservatives take Mr Putin and Russia for fools.

More

The Syrian War will never end until Mr Putin, Mr Lavrov and Russia stop calling the “Terrorist Axis” as “Our Partners”. and start calling them the “Terrorist Axis”:

The US, UK, France, NATO, Turkey, Saudi, Qatar, etc, are the “Terrorist Axis” well known facilitators of Terrorism in Syria and other countries by financing, arming and training terrorists as well as unlawful oil and weapons trafficking and trading with terrorists.

Russia has to send in as many Military Personnel to run Command and Control Centers in Syria and make the whole country a Russian Protectorate and get Iran to send in at least 200,000 Iranian Military Personnel.

There is no sense in Iran keeping IRGs in their Iranian bases polishing their weaponry and marching back and forth instead send 200,000 IRGs to Syria and start taking control of every town and city that is in terrorist hands and ensure they cannot return as in Palmyra v2.

The accommodation and facilities exist in Syria to house them as prior to 2011, the Syrian Armed Forces numbered 325,000.

More, you seem awfully eager to urge Russia on to escalate and raise the stakes! This isn’t a football game, and there’s a lot more at stake than just Syria. If Syria and Russia can pull a viable country out of this flaming mess and hold on until the dollar collapses, if they can avoid giving the US the global war they seem to want and need, it will be a miracle.

Despite decades of trying, we have yet to detect signals from any technological civilization in our part of the Milky Way. The awful possibility gnaws at me every day that this cosmic silence is due to civilizations, having reached our stage of technology, inevitably self destructing.

Earth’s prognosis doesn’t look good, but if we are able prove this theory wrong here on this one planet, it will be in no small part because leaders like Vladimir Putin, faced with an incalculably evil and desperate dying Empire, were able to remain calm and committed to both principled resistance and finding a way to peace. And because millions of people, seeing a reason to hope, act to confront the war mongers, hem them in and tie their hands.

Jonathan Cohen

Every soldier on earth should fight ISIS or HTS, and leave each other and the rest of the world alone until they are done; staying far away from Ukraine and Korea.

Haywood Longview “…eager to urge Russia on to escalate and raise the stakes!…”

Keeping it simple, think from the bottom line and reverse engineer up: Syria is to be saved or lost.

US, NATO axis: Trump is in charge and will do whatever it takes to oust Mr Assad and take Damascus.

“…lot more at stake than just Syria…”

Saudi, Qatar: Saudi Qatar want their oil and gas pipeline through Syria into Turkey and on to the EU.

Conclusion: Damascus falls, Pipeline is built to supply EU and Turkey. Oil and Gas Prices will drop substantially.

The Russian Federation will breakup due to shortage of revenues (as did the USSR) because its largest customers for oil and gas are the EU and Turkey.

Haywood Longview “…hold on until the dollar collapses…”

This is a multi part reply.

Syria faces an imminent and regular threat of attack and collapse of its Government . The US$ is declining slowly, it could take until 2030 to 2050 before it declines or collapses.

Reason: The Neoconservatives control very large economies and their currencies, US$, Euro, GBP, Can$, Aus$, NZ$, etc. plus influence over then Yen and other currencies.

These currencies crossfire (accounting term), buying each others debt and their exchange rates are manipulated as and when necessary.

More

Haywood Longview “…giving the US the global war they seem to want and need…”

The US, NATO, “West”, Neoconservatives operate on “Verbal Brinkmanship”, the way a Neanderthal, Gorilla or Chimp does in their cage or loose in the jungle.

The Neoconservatives would not be able to take a major conflagration with Russia, as just a single Nuclear strike on London or NYC or major EU city, even if it was accidental would cause many deaths and casualties.

Apart from the death and destruction there would be a collapse of the Global Financial Markets causing a World Financial Depression for many decades, etc.

The collapse of the Global Financial Markets, Banks, etc would cause mass starvation in towns and cities around the world along with rioting, looting, etc.

One of the items that gives the Neoconservatives control is Money and this would be wiped out.

Haywood Longview

More, you overestimate the financial and economic strength of the Empire. If you follow ZeroHedge, Naked Capitalism and George Washington’s Blog carefully for a while you will get a sense of just how hollow and fragile this bubble economy is – and how fast the Russian-Chinese de-dollarization strategy is unfolding. From these, and perhaps from sites like Portside and Common Dreams – and from talking to your neighbors if you live in a working class community – you will get a sense of how deeply disaffected, skeptical and angry the people have become.

The ruling classes have profoundly lost their mandate to rule, and alliances within and between nations that still seem strong on the surface are fracturing. The tide of whistle-blowing is swelling as thousands are no longer willing to hold their tongues, and the bought and paid for prostitutes in government and the media are starting to panic, Humpty will not be put back together again. From this you will perhaps draw more of one of the strengths which we need to survive this crisis: patience. Revolutionary patience.

Syria needs help NOW !

The transition out of the US$ has to be slow and steady without causing a global economic collapse.

India, China, Germany, Japan, etc are locked in with the US like Siamese Quintuplets for trade, if the US$ collapses, almost 50% of the whole global economy will collapse.

Yes have been following “Money” for a very long time from the sites you mention as well as the Daily Reckoning. https://dailyreckoning.com/

Since 1967 and the 70’s, was reading (Books, News, Mags, Paper publications) that the Neoconservatives controlled over 50% of the free world economy (back then excluding the USSR, Warsaw block, China. Arab world, etc). Now they control even more.

Today the Neoconservatives control a lot of “Money”, Anglo American (inc Can, Aus, NZ, British Commonwealth), Euro, Yen, HK$, Sing$, GCC Arab Petro$’s (the Arabs pump 40% of world oil output), etc.

gold37

They need them if they want the oil fields in Eastern Homs and Deir Ezzor. Best way is to get cooperation with Iraq and open the Abu Kamal front, where ISIS is comfortable.

Jonathan Cohen

Not all “the Russian special special forces are already deployed in Syria” though they should be fighting ISIS and HTS alongside ALL american, NATO and EU special forces and tanks, leaving Europe totally demilitarized and therefore at peace, and ISIS totally annihilated.

Ronald

Russia has wisely stepped up its presence in Syria . SAA is making good headway on many fronts , but with Al Nusra , ISIS , Turkey and Israel all making threatening moves , some timely support to shore up existing territory is necessary . The hundred thousand Christians in Deir Ezzor will not get fed to the jihadist wolves , as Russian special forces will have no problem crushing the ISIS forces relocating from Raqqa . There is something to thank Trump for , that is the realization that there will never be a negotiated peace , the Americans are not interested . So a strong military victory is not far away for Syria .

Jonathan Cohen

That’s why they stay. Evacuating a hundred thousand would be quite an air lift.

Alex Popoff

BS. Of course special forses are ALWAYS ready to be deployed. Of course the plan for deploying troops in Syria exists, because this is army and they must have plan for any circumstances.

So this is nothing but air shaking.
