Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia stated that Montenegro should have a referendum about NATO membership, Reuters reports.
Ministry spokeswoman stated that less than half of Montenegro’s population supports NATO membership and that because of that there should be a referendum.
Prime minister Milo Djukanovic stated on Monday that the decision will be made in the Parliament.
He added that there is no legal obligation nor a need for a referendum on Montenegro’s accession to NATO.
