The Russian Defense Ministry has relected claims of the ISIS-linked news agency Amaq that ISIS members captured 2 Russian soldiers near Deir Ezzor city.
“All servicemen of the Russian Armed Forces staying in the Syrian Arab Republic are safe and in a good condition and are performing the designated tasks. There were no reports of incidents connected with capture or losses among servicemen of the Russian Armed Forces in the Deir ez-Zor Governorate and other Syrian areas,” the Russian media quotes a statement of Russia’s Hmeymim air base representative.
Earlier on Thursday, ISIS launched a large scale attack aganist government forces at the Palmyra-Deir Ezzor highway and seized Ash Sholah village. Amaq also claimed that 2 Russian soldiers were captured and another one was killed during the attack.
