Russia Successfully Tested S-500 Air-Defense System In Syria

Russia has successfully tested its most advanced air-defense system, the S-500 Prometey, in Syria, according to the Russian daily Izvestia.

Citing sources in the Russian Ministry of Defense, the outlet reported on October 2 that the test included the “ most important elements of the S-500.”

The sources told Izvestia that experts identified “certain problems” with the system during the tests. However, they were quickly fixed and the tests were declared successful.

“Special attention is paid to the smooth operation of all components … the equipment was tested in harsh technical and climatic conditions,” the outlet quoted former deputy commander-in-chief of the Russian Air Force on issues of integrated air defense system, Lt. Gen. Aitech Bizhev as saying.

The S-500, which is being developed by Russia’s defense giant Almaz-Antey, will have a range of up to 600km with advanced anti-ballistic missile (ABM) capabilities.

Serial production of the S-500 is set to begin in the second half of 2020. Russia said it will not sell the S-500 at any price to any country in the near future as it was specially developed for the Russian military.

Did some American or Israeli aircraft got shot down? Otherwise I can’t see how these babies got really tested in Syria, other then drive around the country looking pretty.

Damien C

It was testing the real time visuals on stealth aircraft, rather than waiting on algorithms to identify were the stealth aircraft like the s350 and s400 do the s500 can see them in real time very easily

Peter Bozich

Russia won’t sell them at any price, I wouldn’t either, keep everyone guessing what they are like.

Toronto Tonto

Cannot sell non existing hardware .

Jacob Wohl

Another target for the USAF and IDF. F-35 should have no problem with these

Harry Smith

They should exterminate all the pigeons in the mission area first

Human kind is doomed

Storks! Storks are enemy No1 to F-35… You know, those S-200 storks, “S” is for Storks!

Harry Smith

Yeah. Maybe storks. Anyway they said about “bird collision”. :) https://southfront.org/israel-hiding-state-art-f-35-warplane-hit-syrian-s-200-missile-reports/

“F-35 should have no problem with these”

The F-35 “should” be an inexpensive but effective strike aircraft mass produced in the thousands and operated by all NATO nations. That was the initial objective of the JSF program back in 1992.

What it’s become is a frightfully expensive, unnecessarily complex job creation program that has created a hanger queen with less than half the expected service life and will never be produced in enough numbers to be deployed effectively.

IF…. it had been flightworthy at it’s rollout in 2006 it would likely have been an effective strike fighter over the last decade and a half however it’s nearly 2020 and it’s only deployed in a handful of countries with very few of these aircraft deemed combat ready.

Radar technology has caught up with the F-35. Germany China and Russia now have radars that can track the F-35 Long range, high speed, maneuverable missiles have put safe airfields for this aircraft to operate beyond it’s combat radius. The west has been shown graphically just how poor NATO air defences are at defending against even primitive cruise missiles. A little balance and less hubris in choosing offence over defence would have been prudent however US arrogance and sense of “cultural superiority” over their rivals is their undoing.

This has always been the problem with stealth aircraft. The technology that makes them invisible to radar is more difficult to engineer and more expensive than the technology to defeat them. Stealth is always going to be an effective property to have in a weapon …. it’s nice to have aircraft that can sneak under the radar …. however relying on it as your primary, war winning weapon is technologically, financially and militarily self defeating.

Brian Michael Bo Pedersen

Well said.

Uncle Meat

Reminds me of the Nazis and their worship of technology, as if it was their savior. In the end, it wasn’t.

grumpy_carpenter

Yea …. Although the Nazi’s were most successful in 1940 – 41 when they relied on manuever and tactics and were in fact inferior in many respects to France. The Finns were another country that showed that tactics trumps superior weapons during the winter war …. in fact the way the Houti’s dispatched those 3 Saudi mech brigades was very reminiscent of the Finns in 1940

Simon Bernstein

Yeah don’t forget it wasn’t the russkies or the arabs who defeated Nazi Germany, it was the United States, Britain, and France!

Uncle Meat

Ha! The Jews were far from the victim, you are just saying in another way that the Zionist Jews (of the USA, Great Britain and France) were the victors, that’s the way you’d really like to have it, right?

And what’s more, you may admit or not (just to take any Valor away from Soviet Gentiles fighting), perhaps the Jews fighting in the CCCP armed forces, if Russia had any effect on the war, its outcome, certainly it was with the sacrifices of scores of great Soviet Bolshevik Jews (mostly the kind your elites had good reason to liquidate, wouldn’t have been much keen on establishing the State of Israel, supporting Zionism. Under the cover of war, many of the uncontrollable among the Tribe, they were dealt with and removed as a threat to their future imperial ambitions?) Many were no doubt great warriors (particularly in the former USSR, Bolshevik and all, not so sure how to compare those representing the Allied countries.)

Can’t have it both ways, though! Your people were either victims or victors of the world wars. It’s apparent otherwise you could care less about much of anything but power and control. Not too many nuances or breadth to your kind (psychopaths). A very boring, neurotic) and miserable) lot! We need a whole new ruling class in the West. They have no imagination, vision, charisma or personality. Are there any redeeming quality that stands out for you?

What is honorable and noble the US empire (Anglo Zionist & Co to be sure!) it’s ruling class has done or effected within the last 30-40 years? What sticks out to anyone that is worthy of praise or consideration? I really don’t want to feel the way I do towards my government, (and whoever/whatever makes up the ruling class). I wish I could feel similar patriotic feelings I have developed throughout the past decade as I began to learn more about, it’s certainly exciting and dynamic, kind of how I imagine the USA was at one time. I wonder how it was in the 1600s-1700s. A much more gentle, civil, dynamic country. Before the banksters, the ruling class sunk their fangs financially (and economically, socially and culturally) and developed the MIC, together with the neolibs,Neo-Marxists in the education system. Ruined something unique and beautiful. Seems a common theme (and no it isn’t intrinsic or exclusive to any one race or ethnicity, somehow one race does tend to have higher proportions of sociopaths, psychopaths and other heretics, untouchables (at least they absolutely believe in their heads that they indeed are!)

Damien C

You’ll need ten men to get the F35 out of the hanger first …. then you’ll need another 50 to give it a push start! It’s really that unreliable

Toronto Tonto

And one to push you off the bridge .

Simon Bernstein

I feel bad for the bridge in that case

russ

… Huh I wonder if it would work better being towed like a glider… Load it up with bombs, tow it over the enemy and drop it on them.

grumpy_carpenter

One thing I forgot to mention in my previous post. Russian air defences are networked. An aircraft seen on an S-300 can still engaged by the S-500’s missiles and visa versa. So lets say the IAF takes down the S-500 radar, the missiles are road mobile and remote from the radar so they can still engage the IAF’s aircraft using data from other radars they are networked with. On top of this there are kilo’s in the Mediterranean and Iskander and Bastian missiles in Syria that can destroy every friendly airfield in a matter of minutes if Russian forces were attacked.

Having a airforce with no place to land is a high price for taking out a radar with built in redundancy nes pas?

Simon Bernstein

point is, IDF has no problem taking down S-300, or S-400. Taking down the S-500 will be a walk in the park. Remember the S-400 engagement radar can only lock onto an F-35/F-22 at 17 kilometers away! based off of its radar cross section of 0.0001 square meters. The S-500 engagement radar is an upgrade to the S-400 engagement radar. That being said it might increase this lock on range to 30 kilometers, still not effective against stealth. Get over it, Grumpy Antisemite

grumpy_carpenter

“Get over it, Grumpy Antisemite”

You call me antisemetic …. where’s you evidence. Show me one antisemetic word or phrase I have ever written. I am critical of the US, Saudi and Israeli governments but I have never once commented negtively on ANYONES race or religion. Now if you called me anti zionist I would agree however I consider myself more of an anti warmongering asshole kind of guy.

Russia doesn’t publish that range the S-400 can engage stealth aircraft at. The published range they can detect stealth aircraft is 150 km. You’ll notice the Houti shelled Saudi airfields to supress air operations in coordination with their recent operation against the Saudis. Imagine what the Russians could do to Israeli airfields with the firepower they have at their disposal

bullshit, Nick Fuentes is an isolationist and not a real conservative as he purports to be. My friend Jacob did an outstanding job in his debate. Wohl won that fair and square

Fake news.

Damien C

The s500 launch tubes are so pleasing to the eye Stormy Daniels tried to buy one

Luis

Fake. Mod released a statement on the issue, it makes no sense to test an high altitude complex in Syria. If the Russian carried out some sort of test was on the radars, not the missile.

EveryoneIsBiased

Yeah, they can test radars and sensors “only”. But that alone is extremely valuable data, when one looks at the fact of all the US, EU and Israel aircraft in the area. The same forces the S500 would have to deal with when deployed in Russia.

russ

Correct but in fairness they did say tested, not operational.

Zionism = EVIL

The Americunts and Jew scum are feeding misinformation as usual. But a German report states factually that even a 1960’s NATO radar lit up the F-35 flying shitcans, the capability of the S-500 Prometheus is far superior.

Toronto Tonto

More BS for the Russian populace to absorb.

Vas

Hello immigrant! How your tiny almost non existed armed forces doing lately? I am very impressed with your mighty air force of 70 or so very old first gen F-18s, are they still in fly condition? haha

russ

You’re from Canada… Like a Chihuahua hiding under the porch barking loudly hiding behind the big dogs… stick with your gender searching culture…

Taz T

Have they actually shot down any invading Israeli plane? That is how to test anti Aircraft / Missile system.

EveryoneIsBiased

They wont. It is official policy only to use the Russian deployed air defense only to protect Russian soldiers. This is agreed between Putin and Bibi for years, and has been reported virtually anywhere but here. For anyone wanting a further look, there are many unbiased articles and analysis on the friction between Syria, Iran, Israel, US and Russia. And even on the Russian side, the defense ministery would like to defend Syria against Israel attacks, but the political side does not for obvious political reasons. To sum it up: There are no “Allies”. Only competing states with often opposed interests that call themselves “Allies”. The propaganda does not reflect political will or reality.

Tommy Jensen

If Russia seriously wanted peace on this planet, they would either offer to lay down all heavy weapons unconditionally so the world could see that Russia is a peaceful land, or they would offer to sell all their technologies to US to get pari, so the free and civilised world can see Russia is able to behave like a normal usury country.

But Russia is not interested in peace! Everybody see the picture. Russia is interested in gobbling land masses, gobbling all the gold in this world, plus taking over all of US pheres of interest, including Americas election so Commie Gulag can controle all Americans!!

As a true American patriot from Oklahoma City I cant allow this to happen.

EveryoneIsBiased

I sometimes thought you were a paid NATO troll. But even they cant be as naive and obvious as you are. Does Oklahoma City have neither schools, universities or a Library? Or at least some mental health clinic, where borderline black and white worldviews can get cured? Or is that “Communism” too?

Its so sad to see..

Tommy Jensen

Budweiser and Fabulous Freak Brothers. The way to eternal life.

russ

*** “If Russia seriously wanted peace on this planet, they would either offer to lay down all heavy weapons unconditionally so the world could see that Russia is a peaceful land” *** That would be the most batshit crazy thing Russia would have EVER done… To trust us/US? You are delusional!! Russia is the last bastion for freedom/sanity left on earth… We are a rabid dog run by a USZOG.

AJ

Tommy you need to get that new prescription ASAP.

Uncle Meat

Us pheres of interest? phere = fear? yeah, that seems a running theme among the neurotic MIC and their MSM/politician puppets M.O., scripts or whatever. Fear. They absolutely fear Russia (and China, Iran). They are driven by fear and greed, of course, lust for absolute power (which they just aren’t going to realize, not in this lifetime or the next!)

J Ramirez

S200 already did that against an F35, need to wait for the Americans to make a real plane to test it out ;}

You can call me Al

.Please do not forget the F-16.

However, the F-35i was brought down by birds.

https://i.imgflip.com/2jd7ba.jpg

Uncle Meat

It is telling how much they boast and talk up the F-35.. is it the equivalent to the MIC blowing their wad? If it were really so high tech and invincible as they say (it was rolled out in 2007 or thereabouts, iirc?) then they would be using this plane a great deal more often in real combat situations and sales should be up, correct? It just sounds too good to be true from my skeptical pov, but what do I know.

Simon Bernstein

False! Prove it then. The F-35 hit a stork, and suffered major damage. After over a year of repairs it might be operational. But the whole S-200 story is BOGUS

Zionism = EVIL

1960’s era German radar system tracks two US F-35 jets

The German radar-maker Hensoldt has stated that it managed to track two US stealth fighter jets F-35 from a pony farm for almost 100 miles (about 150 kilometres) during an air show, the website C4ISRNet and independent media reports confirm.

The fifth-generation warplanes were tracked by Hensoldt’s passive radar system TwInvis, which is equipped with sophisticated sensors and processors, following the Berlin Air Show in late 2018.

The TwInvgis system is capable of circumventing the cloaking features afforded by the F-35’s stealth technology by observing electromagnetic emissions in the atmosphere, including signals from radio and TV stations, as well as cellphone towers.

As far as the two F-35 planes are concerned, they were detected after being sent to Germany from Luke Air Force Base in Arizona for the Berlin and later their display was cancelled to save embarrassment.

Dick Von Dast'Ard

Tested with the tracking of USAF F-22 and IAF F-35I?

Simon Bernstein

F-35 and F-22 are still invincible against S-500 air defense systems. From a science perspective, it uses the same engagement radar as the S-400, with slight upgrades. The S-400 engagement radar can only get a target lock on an F-35/F-22 (0.0001 meters squared cross section) from 17 kilometers away! So maybe the S-500 might improve that up to 25 kilometers, who knows.

Simon Bernstein

point is the F-35 would see the S-500 radars from 400 kilometers away! and would engage them with lots of glide bombs, cruise missiles at up to 200 kilometers. Meanwhile the S-500 could only shoot down an F-35 from 17-25 kilometers! Science never lies and the physics and math equations are 100% correct

Simon Bernstein

Conclusion? S-500 cannot beat stealth fighters or detect them from substantial ranges

Aphelion

You know this because you “know” the F-22 radar cross section is 0.0001 m^2 (or whatever number you want to put in there) from all aspects under all conditions, because the US is in the habit of publishing the datasets recorded at their radar reflectivity ranges and anechoic chambers in the open, yes? And you also “know” the exact performance of the S-400 system in all its various configurations under all circumstances, because the Russians often publish radar performance predictions from their simulations and measurements from their trials, yes? You may, however, want to ask yourself why the US was so concerned about the Russians gathering data on the F-35 if Turkey got to operate the S-400 and F-35 in close proximity, if all that data is already out there. At least these fascinating technical posts from people like you will remain a wonderful source of entertainment for those of us who have actually worked with this stuff in the real world.

Simon Bernstein

” worked with this stuff in the real world” oh please, you probably don’t even have a 5th grade physics education. I got all my data on the F-35 and S-400 performance from ACTUAL MILITARY EXPERTS on the Quora Discussion Website, for example check out Igor Markov’s post here https://www.quora.com/Can-the-Russian-S-400-shoot-down-a-US-F-22-F-35-or-B-2

Aphelion

You can assume what you want about my education and experience – I’m not the one making ridiculous claims about invincibility. The fact that you think RCS is about a single number is rather revealing with respect to yours. There are lots of numbers listed in the open media when it comes to radar and “RCS”, none of them accurate in themselves nor sufficient in detail to predict detection ranges in actual real world scenarios.

Simon Bernstein

you see, I source my information from ACTUAL EXPERTS on Quora and from the manufacturers themselves, therefore we can say with at least 50% certainty that the detection ranges are accurate

Aphelion

Wonderful. I’m sure those “experts” and “manufacturers” from both sides (since you need both the radar and radar reflectivity data to make the predictions that you make), have no trouble at all sharing all that classified information with you.
