Russia opened November with another combined strike on Ukraine’s energy system. The overnight attack on November 3 combined mass drone raids with 29 missiles, and its targets stretched from Vinnytsia to Kharkiv. The ground fighting, meanwhile, continues at a slower but steady pace.
According to the reports, the strike package included 17 Iskander-M ballistic missiles, six KN-23 ballistic missiles, four Zircon hypersonic cruise missiles, and two Oniks-M supersonic cruise missiles. Six power facilities were targeted. In the Vinnytsia Oblast, the Ladyzhyn power plant was hit. In Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, strikes landed on the Prydniprovska plant and the Kryvyi Rih power plant. In Kharkiv, Thermal Power Plant Number Five came under attack, along with the Zmiiv plant in the same region.
The consequences were immediate. Residents of Kharkiv were left without heat, and power interruptions were reported in Kyiv and the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast.
In the Odessa Oblast, a separate series of strikes hit the rail and road bridge between Karolino-Bugaz and Zatoka. Ukrainian media reported that 18 missiles and aerial bombs were used against the crossing in half an hour. The bridge links Odesa with Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi and the southwest of the region.
From the rear, attention turns to the front, where fighting continues along several axes.
On the Kupyansk sector, the Russian “West” grouping reported sustained positive trends along the forward edge. Strikes hit Ukrainian formations near Studenok and Vyshnevka in Kharkiv Oblast. Ukrainian sources say Russian units attacked positions near Radkivka three times on November 2.
On the Lyman axis, battles continue on the approaches to the city itself. According to Ukrainian command, on November 2 Russian units conducted six attacks in the region.
In the south, activity remains high. Despite Russian drone strikes on the bridges across the Dnipro, Ukrainian forces in the Zaporizhzhia sector are strengthening their defenses and have attempted several counterattacks near Novodanylovka. Logistics through Yurkivka and Novopavlivka still allow Ukrainian command to bring fresh troops and supplies into Orekhov and to rotate units there.
Northeast of that area, Russian troops fully cleared the village of Omelnyk after hard fighting. The position prepares the ground for a further advance toward Vasynivka. Options for maneuver in the Zaporizhzhia steppe are limited, which is why Russian units have slowed their pace.
The picture is mixed, and it would be misleading to pretend otherwise. On the ground, Ukraine is holding its supply routes in the south. In the sky, Russia is overwhelming the grid with missiles that air defenses cannot stop. A front that moves slowly and a winter that arrives quickly make for a dangerous combination, and only one of those two clocks is under Kyiv’s control.
