The Kinzhal hypersonic missile was most likely test-launched from a Tu-22M3M long-range strategic bomber.

As part of the work on creating and testing advanced aviation weapons aimed at ground and possibly maritime surface targets, a Kinzhal hypersonic missile was test-launched from a modernized long-range supersonic bomber-carrier Tupolev Tu-22M3M with a variable sweep wing.

This was reported by a source of the Russian news agency TASS in the military-industrial complex.

“Recently, a new hypersonic product was tested on the Tu-22M3. The missile will be part of the armament range of the upgraded Tu-22M3M along with a number of other latest aviation weapons,” the TASS source said.

The source didn’t specifically say what the new “hypersonic product” that was tested was. The source noted that work on the new missile began several years ago, missile tests should be completed along with work on the modernized Tu-22M3M bomber.

He clarified that this product does not belong to the X-32 missile line, noting that it is “completely different.” He didn’t specify and of the characteristics.

TASS also received no official comment or confirmation from Tupolev, which produces and is responsible for modernizing the long-range strategic bombers.

Earlier, the Russian defense industry developed two types of aircraft hypersonic missiles. One of them is the Kinzhal hypersonic air-launched ballistic missile and is used on the MiG-31K fighter, it is capable of accelerating to Mach 10+ and was presumably created on the basis of the Iskander ground-based missile system. It is also expected to be equipped on the Tu-22M3.

Another hypersonic air-launched missile is reportedly being developed for the fifth-generation fighter Su-57 and should be placed inside its fuselage. Missile name and characteristics are unknown.

The prototype of the upgraded Tu-22M3M long-range strategic bomber made its first flight on December 28th, 2018.

According to PJSC Tupolev, the missile carrier has an expanded combat potential. Former Commander of the Russian Aerospace Forces Viktor Bondarev, head of the Defense and Security Council Committee, previously reported that the Tu-22M3M will be able to carry, in addition to cruise missiles X-32, hypersonic missiles.

Below is a video of a Tu-22M3M taking off in engine afterburner mode.

Tu-160M2 would be absolutely devastating with a full payload of Kh-47. I’d guess at between 8 – 10 missiles.

Talking of Russia, i so needed some President Putin Common Sense, owing to failure to understand insanity in the world, at present. Low and behold, thankyou Russia Insider:

Excellent Putin Interview on American Exceptionalism and Russia’s Relationship With the US (Video)… https://russia-insider.com/en/excellent-putin-interview-american-exceptionalism-and-russias-relationship-us-video/ri30146

Included in article the speech from President Putin, back in 2007, before the 2008 Crash.

President Putin on Barak Obama:

“In any case, I had good relations with Bush…. it has nothing to do with “being at odds” (with Obama). It’s just that when a person says that…when he said that the US is an exceptional nation with special, exclusive rights in the world, I cannot agree. God created us all equal and gave us equal rights. So, I think it is absolutely ungrounded to say that some people should have exclusive rights to anything.”

President Putin on a scale of 1 – 5, his relationship with the USA:

“I could give it a three. Between a two and a three. More like a three though. Look, we do cooperate on counter-terrorism. It was actually I who called Trump to thank the U.S. for giving us the information (that led to the arrests of two Russia terrorists who were detained on December 27, 2019, charged with attempted terrorist attacks in St. Petersburg)….That specific case was detected by the U.S. I would like to thank them a lot for sharing that information with us….But, in the last two years under Trump, trade turnover started to grow. In the area of security, a while ago we concluded an agreement with Obama, the New START Treaty was also signed when he was in office. However, it has not been extended….yet. So, this raises a question. The U.S. keeps imposing sanctions on Russia. Another question. Take Nord Stream 2, they imposed sanctions on it as well. The U.S. has always been against the development of our economic relations with Europe, even in the 1960s when we started the construction of, if you remember, the gas-for-pipes deal. Thank God now we produced large-diameter pipes ourselves…”

For context, here is an excerpt from Putin’s February 2007 speech: “However, what is a unipolar world? However one might embellish this term, at the end of the day it refers to one type of situation, namely one centre of authority, one centre of force, one centre of decision-making.

It is world in which there is one master, one sovereign. And at the end of the day this is pernicious not only for all those within this system, but also for the sovereign itself because it destroys itself from within. And this certainly has nothing in common with democracy. Because, as you know, democracy is the power of the majority in light of the interests and opinions of the minority.

Incidentally, Russia – we – are constantly being taught about democracy. But for some reason those who teach us do not want to learn themselves. I consider that the unipolar model is not only unacceptable but also impossible in today’s world. And this is not only because if there was individual leadership in today’s – and precisely in today’s – world, then the military, political and economic resources would not suffice. What is even more important is that the model itself is flawed because at its basis there is and can be no moral foundations for modern civilisation.

Along with this, what is happening in today’s world – and we just started to discuss this – is a tentative to introduce precisely this concept into international affairs, the concept of a unipolar world. And with which results?

Unilateral and frequently illegitimate actions have not resolved any problems. Moreover, they have caused new human tragedies and created new centres of tension. Judge for yourselves: wars as well as local and regional conflicts have not diminished. Mr Teltschik mentioned this very gently. And no less people perish in these conflicts – even more are dying than before. Significantly more, significantly more! Today we are witnessing an almost uncontained hyper use of force – military force – in international relations, force that is plunging the world into an abyss of permanent conflicts. As a result we do not have sufficient strength to find a comprehensive solution to any one of these conflicts. Finding a political settlement also becomes impossible.”

Meanwhile, over in Tanzania, so lovely to see a President with a sense of humour. How does one isolate a paw paw?

of course Putin admires Ivan Illyan—-Robert Michel (iron rule of oligarchy) Vilfredo Pareto and Karl Mannheim all demonstrated that democracy has little to do with freedom…Alexandr Herzen observed that there was more freedom and justice in the German autocracy that there was in Constitutional France…Simmel found the there was more freedom and justice in the Roman Empire that in the Roman republic
