Russia To Create Two Squadrons Of MiG-31 Interceptors In Arctic

Russia is set to create two squadrons of MiG-31 interceptor aircraft in the Monchegorsk airbase in the northern region of Murmansk until the end of 2019.

The Russian military is reportedly going to turn these two squadrons into an aviation regiment in order to strengthen its Northern Fleet. According to reports, MiG-31 interceptor aircraft will carry out patrols in the Arctic region.

It should be noted that MiG-31 fighter jets are being used by the Russian military to carry out  Kh-47M2 Kinzhal hypersonic missiles. It is known that Kinzhal’s top speed is in the neighborhood of Mach 10, or over 12,000 km/h, its combat range is about 2000 km, while flight trajectory carries it to altitudes of 50-80km above the Earth’s surface.

The Kinzhal missile was among several state-of-the-art weapon systems revealed by Russian President Vladimir Putin on March 1, 2018:

Good move. Thankfully the world has Russia, the only power capable of keeping the US in check.

Sukhoi-35

Great news. But instead of wasting time/resources creating new planes, Russia should just modernize all their old mig-29s and su-27s in storage with new radars, avionics, countermeasures, and HUD/HMD tech. that would save money and make them much more capable thus adding many more planes to inventory at a lower cost than creating entirely new planes.

You are jealous of Anastas Mikoyan Pane Sukhoi?

mig-29 great planes… but without 21st century upgrades they’re pretty much futile against 4+ and 5th gen fighter planes.

James

Are their used air frames worth spending that money on?

The only known anti missile system capable of intercepting hypersonic missiles that NATO or Israel have. Is a high altitude system like Thaad or Arrow 3 that don’t work at altitudes below 40 or 50 km. These systems are designed for large ballistic missiles traveling long distances and reentering the earths atmosphere. They’re not designed for aircraft or missiles traveling close to the planet’s surface.

The current NATO and Israeli clone systems for sub hypersonic interceptions up to about mach 5. Hypersonic missiles traveling faster than mach 5 can’t be intercepted. This includes the Russian S series antiaircraft missiles. Which are dual use and can hit moving and stationary surface targets. In addition to aircraft in flight.

This makes them suitable for neutralizing air defense systems. So that the entire range of missiles, both sub hypersonic and hypersonic missiles can be used to destroy enemy targets. Without the sub hypersonic ones being intercepted.

This, in theory, provides the escalation management tools to deter the Jews from ramping up a 2006 Lebanon war style air campaign that did so much damage to civilian infrastructure. From being used against Syria if Syria starts taking down IAF planes attacking Syria. If this analysis is correct. It may explain why there’s been a 90% reduction in Jew attacks on Syria for going on 4 months now. And there evidently haven’t been any in 2 weeks.

You can bet the Zionazis are keeping a close eye on the S-300 to see if they can outsmart it. Secondly, if they wish to attack Syria all they need to is utilize a commercial plane as cover. Assad nor Putin has the stomach to bring down an airliner. Thirdly, the country needing the S-300 most is LEBANON where Israhelli utilize their airspace.

RichardD

The SADF can destroy those planes on the ground before they take off or after they land if they want to. They know where they are from take off to landing and can destroy them when friendlies aren’t in the way.

Nobody knows what the S-300s are capable of or how to defeat them because they have no combat history. But most of the technology that they use has been demonstrated to be very effective in Syria taking down missiles, drones and bombs in what is probably the most contested electronic warfare environment on the planet. So the Jews are approaching them with a lot of caution. They’re probably under a lot of pressure from the US not to demonstrate how ineffective a lot of the very expensive equipment that they’ve been given is.

THAAD is crap. And it’s why other countries don’t want it and are paying for the Russian S-400. Soon there will be S-500. You see, Russia utilizes it’s smaller than monstrous US military budget, and puts it into serious innovation and upgrade. Meanwhile the US utilizes it’s DofD budget for waste, abuse fraud and theft. Yes, as of last year it couldn’t even pass an audit. 21 trillion is missing from that budget over the last 15 years. THAAD is old expensive news and there is NO defense against Russian hypersonic .

This is a report that the Mig-31 has been deployed to Syria. https://youtu.be/xAC2h-LTTYU
