Russia will get four robotized Steregushchiy-class multipurpose corvettes by 2019-2021, the Russian newspaper Izvestia reported on October 11 citing the Defense Ministry.

According to the report, the corvettes will get the combat command information system Sigma-20385. Elements of the system allow to manage combat systems as well as movement of the corvettes. The system operates automatically from the moment when a target is detected until it’s neutralized.

The Rezkiy, Retiviy, Strogiy and Aldar Zidenjapov Steregushchiy-class multipurpose corvettes will be first to be equipped with the Sigma-20385.

Why, what’s the point of spending millions on machines, when a man will do a better job for less?

Robert Guttierez

Less people equals less deaths if the ship, or tank, or jet gets destroyed.

Gregory Louis

It’s better to lose the equipment than someone who’s a trained veteran. Learn from WW2 that saving experienced Pilots, sailors, tank crews, and infantry are the best way in modern warfare.

To add, the machines are quicker to decide the best course of action in this day and age of hypersonic weapons where seconds count.

When the US automated Patriot batteries, they shot down 2 RAF fighters.

Nexusfast123

US junk for you and ignorant, scared operators. The same as the Aegis destroyer that shot down the Iranian Airbus…they actually gave medals to them. They keep promoting how good Aegis is but it can’t tell the difference between a fighter jet and a civilian airliner.

We tried.

There is always a need for operator supervision. The yanks have been electronics cowboys since the fifties. it is how they got egg on their face, when they failed to fit a gun on the old F-4 Phantom jet.

James

lol! I’ve actually never heard of that, will google.

SPEAKER OF THE TRUTH

In this case, I suspect what we’re talking about is a machine that allows a man to go from making a decision to it being enacted faster. The equivalent of the change from having to telegraph speed to a chief in the engine room who shouts orders to the engineers to shut things down or open them up, to being able to move a lever in the bridge and take full control.

Sinbad2

I hope so.

Abramo Putra

This already works for the integrated S 300 aerospace system. The firing order comes from a remote command that locates the target, a satellite, an awacs, a missile system on the ground.

Machines are a great aid to man, but only people who don’t understand machines think that a machine is superior to man.

Kirov-class battle group with robotized frigates/corvettes.
