Russia to Modernize of Mi-17 Helicopters for Kazakhstan

The Russian helicopter design and manufacturing company, “Russian Helicopters” has signed a roadmap with the Kazakhstan Engineering National Company to expand the after-sales service of Russian helicopters. According to the manufacturer’s press service, the service will include modernization of the Mi-8 and Mi-17.

“The signed roadmap envisages coordination between the three companies on the comprehensive servicing of Russian-made helicopters in the Republic of Kazakhstan, including the development of overhaul of Mi-171Sh, as well as work on the modernization of Mi-8T helicopters, Mi-17-B5 and Mi —171Sh for installation of new equipment and improvement their performance characteristics,” the statement said.

The road-map was signed by Russian Helicopter chief Alexander Mikheev, Director General of Kazakhstan Engineering National Company Erlan Idrissov and CEO of Aircraft Repair Plant №405 Konstantin Ushakov at the international KADEX-2016 military exhibition, hosted by the Kazakh capital of Astana on June 2-5.

“Kazakhstan is one of the largest long-time operators of Russian helicopters. Russian-made helicopter fleet in the republic today is about 200 units. We are ready to supply new rotorcraft to our trade partner, including Ka-226Ts, Mi-171A2s and Ansats. Due to high performance, reliability and simplicity in operation, as well as a favorable “price-quality” ratio, our helicopters meet the most stringent requirements of regional customers,” Russian Helicopters’ deputy CEO for marketing and international business development Alexander Shcherbinin said.
