Russia, Ukraine Exchange Strikes With Hundreds Of Drones (Videos)

Russia and Ukraine exchanged drone strikes over the night of October 31 and November 1, with the first launching more than double the number of drones used by the latter.

The Ukrainian Air Force said in a statement that a total of 223 suicide drones were launched by the Russian military. German-type drones were the majority. As usual, the air force alleged that most of the drones were intercepted, in this case it was 206 of the drones.

Despite these claims, blasts were reported in the regions of Kiev, Cherkasy, Poltava, Sumy, Chernihiv, Kharkiv, Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Mykolaiv, and Odessa.

It’s worth noting that the overnight drone attack coincided with another wave of airstrikes by the Russian Aerospace Forces, mainly using guided glide bombs.

A gas processing plant was reportedly hit in Opishnia in Poltava. Reports also indicate that railway infrastructure was hit in both Lozova and Samiilivka in Kharkiv. There were also reports of a high-value military target getting hit in Slovyansk in Donetsk.

In its daily briefing, the Russian Ministry of Defense said that strikes hit “energy facilities, which provided work of Ukrainian defense industry enterprises, as well as infrastructure of military airfields, depots and preparations areas for the launch of long-range attack unmanned aerial vehicles as well as temporary deployment areas of Ukrainian armed formations in 150 areas” over the past 24 hours.

The ministry reported said in an earlier statement that 98 Ukrainian suicide drones were intercepted by Russian air defenses.

It stated that 45 drones were shot down over the Belgorod region, 12 over the Samara region, 11 over the Moscow region, including six targeting the capital, ten each over the regions of Voronezh and Rostov, four over the Tula region, two each over the regions of Lipetsk and Ryazan, and one each over the Kursk and Kaluga regions.

Fragments of a drone shot down over Tula were discovered near a roadway, prompting traffic restrictions on part of Kutuzov Street, regional governor Dmitry Milyaev said on Telegram, without reporting any damage or casualties.

Temporary restrictions on civilian aviation were also introduced at airports in Tambov, Kaluga, Penza, Samara, and Saratov overnight.

While the Russian drone attack was double the size of that carried out by Ukraine overnight, it was not in fact the largest in recent days.

In recent months, the Russian military began to conduct group strikes with hundreds of drones in addition to dozens of cruise and ballistic missiles more frequently. These strikes also became more effective.

The rate of Ukrainian attacks also increased in the last few months in a notable way, although they are not becoming more effective.
