Russian Aerospace Forces Destroyed Two Ukrainian HIMARS Launchers In Donetsk

The Russian Aerospace Forces have destroyed two U.S.-made M142 HIMARS systems of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), Lieutenant General Igor Konashenkov, a spokesman for the Russian Ministry of Defense, announced during a press briefing on November 20.

The spokesman said that the two systems were destroyed with precision-guided missiles on the territory of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR).

“High-precision missiles of the Russian Aerospace Forces destroyed two US HIMARS rocket launchers in the vicinity of the settlement of Kramatorsk in the DPR,” Lt. Gen. Konashenkov said.

The U.S. supplied the AFU with 20 HIMARS [High Mobility Artillery Rocket System] launchers between June and August as a part of its initial response to the Russian special military operation in Ukraine.

A further 18 HIMARS launchers were announced in September, however it was part of an aid package aimed at meeting Ukraine’s mid- and long-term needs, so deliveries would begin in six months at the earliest.

The HIMARS supplied to the AFU are armed with M30/M31 series GMLRS precision-guided rockets, which have a range of more than 70 kilometers. GMLRS rockets are guided by a GPS-aided inertial navigation system and have a circular error probable of one meter. Each launcher can be loaded with a pod of six rockets. A single GMLRS rocket costs well over a $100,000.

The AFU have repeatedly used the HIMARS’ precision-guided rockets to target residential areas and civilian infrastructure in the Donbass as well as in the regions of Kherson and Zaporizhzhia.

The Russian military is working nonstop to hunt down the AFU’s HIMARS launchers. Some have been already destroyed or damaged. The effectiveness of Ukraine’s remaining launchers is being limited by Russian air defenses.

The Russian Aerospace Force is doing a better job than the Russian Air Force in destroying the Nazis. Now it’s time to take the enemy’s satellites down. Keep doing the good work guys! The international South in on your side!

Captain Hohol

Not the fault of the RUAF, we live in a new reality now, one where manpads and other AA systems are cheap and easy to deploy and field.

Vanya

It is the fault of Kremlin strategies and tactics. They refuse to blow things up like normal people.

Sunny

$100,000 is literally nothing when you have a private company printing out worthless dollars ad infinitum. Schlomo printed it out this afternoon during lunch break.

I’ll sadly have to agree with this. Pictures would be exceptional proof. Then again, perhaps they are retaining the photos for the US or Kiev to deny, then release and make fools. Has happened in past.

Kill em' all

It is necessary non only to destroy the launcher but also the crews.

Exactly like in ww2 the loss of a fighter was nothing, but with experienced pilots in short supply…
