The Russian Aerospace Forces have eliminated 180 terrorists and mercenaries in Syria’s Euphrates Valley, the Russian Defense Ministry announced on October 7.

According to the ministry’s spokesman Major General Igor Konashenkov, airstrikes destroyed a terrorist base, 40 terrorists from Tajikistan and Iraq and 7 vehicles armed with large caliber weapons near the border Syrian town of al-Bukamal. Furthermore, 80 terrorists, 18 vehicles armed with large caliber weapons and three weapons depots were destroyed near Mayadin town and 60 mercenaries and 20 their vehicles were eliminated  south of Deir Ezzor in the Euphreates Valley.

“In the strikes on Abu Kamal [al-Bukamal], the military destroyed a base and about 40 terrorists coming from Tajikistan and Iraq, as well as seven off-road vehicles with high-caliber weapons,” Konashenkov said. “Near the Meyadin compound, they destroyed a command post of terrorists and up to 80 militants, including nine militants coming from the North Caucasus. There also, they destroyed 18 off-road vehicles with high-caliber weapons and three arms depots.”

“South of Deir ez-Zor [Deir Ezzor], in the Euphrates Valley, in a strike they destroyed a team of foreign mercenaries of more than 60 people, who came from the CIS, Tunisia, and Egypt,” the spokesman added saying that warplanes “also destroyed twelve off-road vehicles with installed high-caliber weapons.”

Think (and hope) this happens in preparation for crossing the Euphrate near Mayadin to reach the Omar oilfields.

GREAT NEWS Lethal air support by RuAF. Keep up the good work. :) https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/986093a4c6d66bc1a655ede9ab327f9dff766420a3aed55ef194cf0c3365a48c.jpg

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

ISIS suffered battlefield losses in Mayadin and have taken it out on the civilians in Al-Qusor district in DE killing 7 civilians, time to kill all ISIS in DE , NO MERCY!

MichaelE

… but I always wonder how to get these exact numbers of casualties and of their home countries after an AIR-strike. This should be possible only by an excellent intelligence in enemy areas.

Daniel Castro

Body count.

MichaelE

Body count? “about 40 terrorists coming from Tajikistan and Iraq, …… including nine militants coming from the North Caucasus. …… more than 60 people, who came from the CIS, Tunisia, and Egypt,”

Daniel Castro

They probably have IDs.

Jens Holm

They do. ISIS has some in plastic cover with all needed information.

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

Generally all on the battlefield have identification, just a way to identify bodies easier. Though apparently some people die twice Abu Umar al Shishani died again at Al Mayadin first time was in July 2016.

Jens Holm

And many ways besides bodycount after. They can have heard by radio how many and the language accent and do know where many troops are.

Some years ago we had specialforces on the ground using lazer pointers. Those came very close to their targets and asked for assistence, they found targets were big and important enough.

Some 40 or 60 more or less grouped are. After a succes, they could say: All is dead.

MichaelE

In my imagination Russion aircrafts are flying over enemy’s area shooting on persons and devices – no own military close to the targets because of danger of friendly fire. Thus no bodies and no IDs. But Jens’ solution (“special forces”) seems to be the only explanation, Thanks @all for your hints.

Justin

Again, terrible English! Translate ur shit! Im thinking to block u (the first time ever) simply because your English is so bad! I have to think for a few mins or read what u write 2 or 3 times before I can try and understand what u are trying to say!

WHAT THE FUCK DOES THIS MEAN?? “Some 40 or 60 more or less grouped are. After a succes, they could say: All is dead.”

SERIOUSLY?? YOU THINK WE UNDERSTAND WHAT THIS MEANS??

MichaelE

In my perhaps naive imagination some aircrafts fly over the city and shoot on people and devices – no own military ground personal near to the targets because of danger of friendly fire. Thus no bodies and no IDs or anything similar. But a situation of near special forces, as mentioned by Jens, could be an explanation. Thanks @all for your hints!

ghartwell

It is very clear that Russia has excellent intelligence and makes use of it strategically when needed.

χρηστος

they have sof on the ground indicating targets.they are the ones that give the numbers of enemies killed…the ‘about’ is because of airstrikes that dont leave anything behind….all rats evaporated…..

Zainab Ali

russian air defence is the best …. more such news will aid the superheroes on the ground immensely no doubt

bakbaklazhan

americans must be in tears

Jens Holm

I dont see why at all.

Robert Duran

of course you will not..be patient ..it will sink in soon

Justin

hahaha you know why!

FlorianGeyer

The use of the word ‘mercenaries’ in the Russian MOD statement intrigues me. It may be insignificant but in the past ISIS terrorists of all shapes and colours have been recorded as ‘ISIS’ in the context of a group bonded by an ideology.

Has the term ‘mercenary’ now been used by Russia to further implicate other actors such as the US for instance, to be supplying mercenaries for hire to directly support ISIS ( and Al Nusra) ?

Jens Holm

I read a lot and havnt heard any escalation in language.

But some dilemmas has been added. First SAA blame SDF not to help SAA. When they arrive, they get artillerystriked by SAA. It doesnt improve the climate.

Nr 2 are the accusations by Felah(YPJ) about intruders comming across Eufrat by SAA. Its a tuff one for Damaskus to eat if its not true. as I see it as a private I have never heard Felah say anything just like it. Therefore I believe those were not helped by SAA.

But we might see, hear, listen to russians about the Idlib situation and if its with breakthrough the SDF lines to Azaz as arrowmaded by the turkisg sabah if russians might accept SDF has to leave some terrotory there.

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

The SDF were hit by Mortars from unfriendly ISIS who didn’t sign on with US/SDF, they can’t bribe them all is the US. The group that was hit was an IDF/ISIS group by an airstrike as they weren’t any SDF in the area.

The bogus intruders were dead already and brought from the failed attacks on the SAA near Deir Ezzor.

The Turks are breaking through the HTS lines and into Idlib and will go through with Russian aviation supporting attack on Hadad area. The SDF will be a non starter in the region as the Russians informed them the Turks are coming through and holding the SDF territory.

CriticalTinkerer

Russians inviting Turks into Idlib which is on other side of Al Bab is a payback for SDF playing games in the east of Deir Ezzor and taking oilfields.

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

The Russians play a very smart game by keeping the Turks busy with this operation , the SDF will learn the Russians are not one to play games with.

Justin

Totally agree! But also allows the SAA some breathing space from HTS because Turkey will be utilising AASham in the battle against HTS! So this will be 2 enemies fighting each other! Hahaha, nicely played! They are such good diplomats the Russians!

Justin

the Kurdish region in Afrin is beholden to Russia whilst the mad dog Turkey looks to destroy it all! Must be a nice ace up the sleeve for the Russians! I wonder what sort of deals (ransom) they can make with the Kurds with this region!

Justin

I understood only half of what u said! PLEASE, write in your own language and then have it translated!

D.R.Phantom

Certainly. That’s the point.

Justin

perhaps so! Good point u make here!

Steven Fay

I bet the US destroyed the bridge in that town, though now SAA are equipped to put a pontoon bridge across.

Jens Holm

I only remember it was done sept 27 https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/89cac86808bd26541ddd34f69e66e3f21b30358c3d79dadf0b34d5aeed280507.jpg
