UPDATE: The Russian military says that a UAV was intercepted.
On May 21, Russian air defense systems, allegedly a Pantsir-S short to medium range system, launched at least four missiles at “unidentified” targets over the Khmeimim air base in Syria, according to local sources.
According to some sources, the missiles intercepted unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) launched by militants. The number of the intercepted UAVs is unknown.
Previously, Russian forces interceped two UAVs armed with projectiles on April 24.
Israel snooping around Russian air defences again eh. I think they’re trying to provoke a S400 launch so they can gather intel on that.
They will not “gather much”, if they are zapped first and then blown to smithereens.
One and only thing they can gather in that case are their remains.

Russia has already developed AI for its Uran series of robots. In what way are they behind in robotics exactly? They seem to be up their. “raptor category drones” you mean combat drones? Then no Russia has presented combat drones witch it used in syria. Also no they cant make 10.000 of them the total numbre of standard combat UAV’s in the US military is ~400-450 total that is the RQ/MQ-1 and MQ-9 drones combined.
there are different combat drones. at least in us army. the predator class is one of the heavy types. russia has nothing similar. and usa has also stealth category. in this way russia has no chance with its low capacity indutry.

well the predators are the only real ones whitch are in great numbers. Also not really their are only 2 or 3 typers of combat drone in the US military (not US army the US army is the main ground force use military instead since it invelopes the whole military i know english is not your first language so i understand why you made that mistake) Russia has proofed it has desent combat UAV’s but they are not willing to invest in them alot to the Russians recon UAV’s are far more useful. The main reason why they do not invest in them is that they are very easy targets for electronic warfare i mean Iran of all nations managed to highjack a RQ-170 drone and land it back in 2011 so yea. Russia is in no hurry to make alot of combat drones since they are only useful against terrorists and not really that useful against enemys with actual airdefenses just like the AC-130 gunship.

The drones you are talking about are cheap Chinese stuff and they are too slow, fly too low and their autonomy is small. They can NOT carry any missile or bomb of any kind No rocket is EVER used for them to shoot them down. One can shoot them with the ordinary Kalashnikov There are also cannons on Pantsir for shooting very small targets on the “cheap”. Base from UAV or other slow moving targets) His role is to be just one part in a complex task of making air defense network for certain area and not some hi-tech miracle weapon that can single handedly protect …whatever…….. Days ago Putin personally and publicly stressed upmost urgency for upgrading of all variants of Pantsir systems for protection against fast moving precision guided munition because its almost useless against them. Human capital is priceless and luckily today SAA have unbelievably wide spectrum of skills that are essential for modern warfare due to a 7 years of war. Example can be seen on a young Syrian pilots that already clocked more than 2.000 flying hours, and that fact is for WOOW effect.
