Russian air defenses have foiled a Ukrainian drone and missile attack which targeted the Crimean Peninsula and other Russian territories.
Over the night of July 20 and 21, eight Ukrainian suicide drones were intercepted, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense. Three drones were shot down over the region of Belgorod and the remaining five were downed over the Black Sea, apparently while on their way to Crimea. No losses were reported.
Additionally, the Governor of Kherson Vladimir Saldo announced via his Telegram channel that two American-made MGM-140 ATACMS tactical ballistic missiles which were launched by Kiev forces at Crimea were intercepted over Kherson.
“In the morning the Russian air defense shot down two high-precision ATACMS missiles in the sky over the Kherson region. The enemy tried to attack the Crimea. The shell fragments fell far from populated areas,” Saldo said.
There were no casualties or injuries and no damage to infrastructure in Kherson as a result of the interceptions, according to the governor.
Also overnight, the Kiev regime reported a series of Russian drone and missile strikes. The Ukrainian Air Force said that 39 Geran-type suicide drones, two Iskander-M tactical ballistic missiles and two Kh-59/69 cruise missiles were launched by the Russian military.
The air force claimed that 35 drones were intercepted and that the Kh-59/69 missiles failed to reach their targets, but didn’t say what happened to the Iskander-M missiles.
Of course, despite these claims losses were reported. The military administration of Sumy said on Telegram that a Russian missile damaged critical infrastructure in the Shostkynskyi district of the region. Blasts were reported in several other Ukrainian regions.
Last March, the Russian military resumed group strikes on military infrastructure and related energy facilities in Ukraine in response to repeated drone and missile attacks by Kiev forces on Russian territories. Ukraine sustained heavy losses as a result of these retaliatory strikes. However, Kiev is yet to halt its attacks.

great work by the air defence lads. slava rossiya!
nato is planning to deploy two permanent warships in bulgaria. this move aims to enhance the security situation in the region. the reaction of russia to this development is of great interest. in the past, russia has strongly criticized nato’s expansion in similar situations. this development could affect the military balance in eastern europe.
