Russian air defenses intercepted over the night of September 12 and 13 at least 20 Ukrainian fixed-wing suicide drones over six different regions in Russia, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense.
In a statement, the ministry said that eight Ukrainian drones were shot down over the Bryansk region, four over the Belgorod region, three over the Kursk region, two over the Smolensk region, two over the Oryol region and one over the region of Kaluga.
No casualties or material losses were reported in any of the targeted Russian regions, which indicates that the Ukrainian drone attack was a complete failure.
The Kiev region intensified drone attacks on Russian territory in recent months, likely in an attempt to make up for its mounting losses in the special military operation zone.
On September 10, Ukraine carried out one of its largest drone attacks on Russia so far, targeting the capital of Moscow and multiple regions. At least 144 fixed-wing suicide drones were intercepted by Russian air defenses. Still, the attack claimed the lives of two civilians.
The Russian military usually responds to such drone attacks by launching large-scale group strikes against military infrastructure and related energy facilities in Ukraine.
