Russian air defenses intercepted at least 17 Ukrainian drones over the Black Sea as well as the regions of Kursk and Krasnodar overnight, according to the Russian Ministry of Defenses.
Late on April 13, the ministry said in a statement that two drones were shot down over Kursk. No casualties or material damage were reported there.
In a second statement released early on April 14, the ministry announced that five more drones were shot down over the Black Sea.
“The Kiev regime’s attempt to use fixed-wing drones for a terrorist attack on the territory of the Russian Federation was thwarted at around 6:30 a.m. [Moscow time, 3:30 a.m. GMT] of April 14,” the ministry said. “On-duty air defenses shot down five Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles above the Black Sea waters.”.
Ten more drones were intercepted later in the morning over Krasnodar, according to another statement by the ministry. No losses were reported in the region.
In recent months, the Kiev regime stepped up attacks on Russian territory. The regime views attacks on Russian territory, which usually target civilian properties and infrastructure, as a way to make up for the never ending failures of its forces on the battlefields.
The Russian military has already resumed large-scale missile and drone strikes against Ukraine in response to recent attacks. Early on April 14, there were reports of strikes against targets of Kiev forces in Kharkiv. The results of the strikes are still unknown, however.
