An IL-76 cargo plane delivered a humanitarian cargo to some 200,000 residents of the Syria’s city of Deir Ezzor, besieged by ISIS militants. The plane was freighted by World Food Program and escorted by Russian Su-30 fighter jets.
The delivery was carried out as part of the UN World Food Program and included food and medicine.
Sunday’s airdrop was the first batch of aid to be delivered to the besieged city this week. Russia plans will reportedly fly in daily humanitarian cargo drops.
