Warplanes of the Russian Aerospace Forces carried out a series of airstrikes against ISIS cells in Syria’s central region, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported on September 6.
The London-based pro-opposition monitoring group said that some of the airstrikes targeted hideouts used by the terrorist group close to the town of Madan in the eastern Raqqa countryside and the town of Rasafa in the southern countryside of the governorate.
Other airstrikes targeted hideouts close to the 55-kilometer no-fly zone around the United States-held al-Tanf garrison in the eastern Homs countryside, the group added.
The last few weeks saw an uptake in attacks on Syrian government forces and civilians in the central region. On September 5, seven troops were killed in two separate attacks close to the town of Ithriyah in the eastern Homs countryside. On the same day, a shepherd was killed and two others were wounded as a result of an attack in the area of al-Buhamad in the southern Raqqa countryside. Both attacks were blamed on ISIS.
ISIS has been waging an insurgency in central Syria for most of the past decade. The terrorist group’s cells receive support from their comrades in the northeastern region which is held by the U.S. and its proxy, the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces.
Syrian and Russian officials accused U.S. forces in al-Tanf of training and even arming militants, including members of ISIS, more than once in the past.

wake me up when russians hit u.s. illegal militry base. i’m repeating this post maybe for ten years already.
otherwise, you are spreading only stupid pro-putin propaganda again.
the old frontier forts the colonial americans would establish when expanding westward. these overseas military bases such as al tanf remind of just that, it seems the anglo-americans implemented the manifest destiny doctrine on a international scale.
russia is scared as shit of doing that
that illegal base will dealt with accordingly.
