The Russian military continues to captured recently-supplied, Wester-made weapons from Kiev forces in the Donbass region.
On May 20, Russian sources shared photos showing some advanced Western-made weapons which were captured from Kiev forces during a recent battle on a frontline near the city of Izium.
The captured weapons included:
- Three US-made FGM-148 Javelin anti-tank guided missile along with a Command Launch Unit (CLU). Kiev forces have so far received more than 5,000 Javelin missiles and at least 377 CLUs for the system from the US, the UK, France and Estonia.
- Five German-made MATADOR anti-tank weapons. Kiev forces have so far received more than 5,100 MATADOR weapons from Germany.
- Two Swedish-made AT4 recoilless anti-tank weapons. Kiev forces have so far received more than 10,000 AT4 weapons from Sweden and 6,000 others from the US.
- A British-made NLAW anti-tank missiles. Kiev forces have so far received at least 4,200 NLAW missiles from the UK and 100 others from Luxembourg.
- A US-made M72 LAW anti-tank weapon. Kiev forces have so far received 4,500 rounds of the weapons from Canada, 4,000 from Norway and 2,700 others from Denmark.
- A US-made FIM-92 Stinger man-portable air-defense system (MANPADs). Kiev forces have so far received more than 2,250 Stinger MANPADs from the US, Denmark, Germany, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania and the Netherlands.

In total, the West delivered 60,000 anti-tank weapons to Kyiv forces over the last few months. The delivers of some of these weapons, like the Javelin, NLAW and Stinger, began even before the start of the Russian special military operation in Ukraine.
The Russian military and the armed forces of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) and the Luhansk People’s Republic (LPR) have already captured or destroyed loads of Western-made weapons.
The West hopes that it could prolong the war in Ukraine and weaken Russia by continuing to pump weapons into the hands of Kiev forces.
Send the captured western ordence to North Koria . Im sure the military there can test and develop on the equipment and it may be of use against any nato attacks from the japs

So far the fight at the Polish/Belarus border was won by the Polish border guard. Now, they are even better prepared with special wall built there. Moreover, Belarus is still dependent on Poland as quite a lot of trasnportation from Belarus goes throug the Polish border town of Kuznica. So they have to be cautious.

The Javelin’s CLU is the most valuable piece of equipment captured, it’s the reusable part of the system, it can be used as a night vision system, and if it’s the latest version of the CLU then the Russians (or the Chinese) can try to copy its aiming system and decipher its GPS communication system.

Russian forces would have no tanks or other armoured vehicles if 60,000 anti-tank and anti-aircraft missiles were the answer. Either the weapons don’t fire properly, aren’t accurate, don’t explode effectively, or, are ineffective against Russian vehicles. There are reports Russian tanks survive multiple hits by these rockets. I haven’t seen many captured Carl Gustav recoilless rifles.
Let’s say of these 60 thousand missiles, 20 thousand were destroyed in rear area warehouses. Another 10 thousand destroyed in forward supply points, plus 10 thousand destroyed at the front in attacks on AFU positions. It still leaves 20 thousand actively deployed. Many would be deployed to rear area units near Odessa and Kherson front lines, Dnipro, Kharkiv and Kiev. This should at least provide several missiles per 40 man unit. It should be enough to seriously blunt Russian armour in Donbass.
So the failure is likely in troop training, morale, tactics or leadership. Many captured AFU soldiers report resentment they have been abandoned by their leaders. Conscripts sent forward are given minimal arms and ammo, aren’t given body armour and plates, or even good boots. This suggests they aren’t trusted by AFU command. This is an accurate command assessment after continuous desertions and reserve refusals to report for duty since 2014. This suggests many AFU units are used as bullet sponges. Little better than WWII penal battalions sent to uncover Russian offensive pushes. Then more effective and better armed AFU units move into depth defences behind them.
