Russian Army Captures Hnativka After Neutralizing 200 Ukrainian Troops In Pokrovsk (Videos)

On November 10, the Russian military captured a small settlement adjacent to the key city of Pokrovsk in Donetsk after inflicting heavy losses on Ukrainian troops trapped there.

In a statement, the Russian Ministry of Defense said that the 2nd Combined Arms Army of the Tsentr [Center] Group of Forces captured Hnativka, located right to the east of Pokrovsk.

It added, that Russian troops expanded their control in the city itself, advancing in the “Dinas” neighborhood, in the northwestern and eastern quarters of the Central district, as well as in the western industrial zone, and liberated 244 buildings within a day.

The Tsentr Group of Forces also thwarted seven Ukrainian attempts to relieve troops trapped in the area of Hrishino, and two more attempts by the 425th Assault Regiment of Kiev forces to break out of the cauldron to the north and northwest of Pokrovsk, according to the ministry.

“More than 200 Ukrainian Armed Forces personnel, a ‘Spartan’ armored personnel carrier, a ‘Kozak’ armored combat vehicle, and six pickups were destroyed in the Krasnoarmiisk [Pokrovsk] direction within a day,” it said.

Earlier in the day, the ministry said in its daily briefing that the 5th Motorised Rifle Brigade of the 51st Army, a part of the Tsentr Group of Forces, are advancing in the Vostochny microdistrict and southern part of Dimitrov, also known as Myrnohrad, as well as towards the Zapadny microdistrict.

To the north of Myrnohrad, the Tsentr Group of Forces is holding onto its positions in Rodynske. Ukrainian troops who infiltrated the settlement in recent days are being hunted down. Additional gains to the southwest of the settlement were also reported.

With Ukrainian defenses collapsing in Pokrovsk and nearby areas, more and more soldiers and officers from Kiev forces are surrendering or getting captured while attempting to flee the bending siege.

In a testimony published by the Russian MoD, a prisoner of war (POW) named Aleksandr Avramenko revealed that recent Ukrainian counterattacks in Pokrovsk were a failure.

“There is no chance to break into Pokrovsk. They shot everywhere. There, I started to realise that I’m like cannon fodder. There are drones, artillery, and fire everywhere. I didn’t see anyone trying to get out or break through. I didn’t see the wounded, but saw the dead,” he said.

“’It is impossible to enter Pokrovsk. As soon as you deployed, it’s easier just to give up, search for the nearest Russian troops, and surrender. Then, you’ll stay alive,” he added.

Nikolay Timchenko, another POW, said in a testimony published by the ministry separately that he opted to surrender after realizing that he and his comrades were sent to Pokrovsk as “cannon fodder”.

“We saw many dead and wounded men when moving along the road. Seeing this, we already realised we were to be cannon fodder. In Pokrovsk, there was constant shelling and we couldn’t raise our heads. They began to surround us. We surrendered without a single shot,” he said.

“Men, don’t listen to anyone! Listen to your voice and heart. Commanders deceive you. You’d better to give up without a fight. No one will touch and hit you here,” he added.

The vast majority of Pokrosk is already in the hands of the Russian military. In fact, most of the battles are now taking place in Myrnohrad and nearby areas. Despite this, Kiev is yet to order a withdrawal to save the lives of its own troops. Instead, it is sacrificing more to delay its defeat.

The price for senseless strategy is not, however, limited to casualties, Ukraine is also losing ground in other directions, mainly in the city of Kupyansk in Kharkib, and close to the city of Huliapole in Zaporizhzhia.
