Russian Army Captures Rog, Clears More Parts Of Pokrovsk And Myrnohrad (Videos)

On November 14, the Russian military captured Rog to the east of the city of Pokrovsk and expanded its control in Myrnohrad nearby in Donetsk.

The capture of Rog, also known as Rih, by the Tsentr [Center] Group of Forces was announced by the Russian Ministry of Defense, which later said in its weekly briefing that the 2nd Army carried out more attacks against Ukrainian troops trapped in the western part of Pokrovsk, in the northwestern and eastern quarters of the Central District, as well as in the city’s western industrial area.

In addition, the ministry said that seven attacks by Ukraine’s 32nd Mechanized Brigade, the 425th Skala Assault Regiment, and the 1st Assault Regiment were repelled by Russian troops near Grishino.

The Tsentr Group of Forces also expanded its control in Myrnohrad, which is also known as Dimitrov, to the east of Pokrovsk.

The 51st Army’s 5th Motorized Rifle Brigade captured at least 49 buildings in Myrnohrad in the last 24 hours, and advanced in the Vostochny district, as well as in the southern part of the city and in the direction of the Zapadny district, according to the Russian MoD.

“Over the past week, more than 1,670 troops, three tanks, 34 armored fighting vehicles, 31 motor vehicles, and six field artillery guns were neutralized near Krasnoarmeysk (Pokrovsk) and Dimitrov,” the ministry said in its weekly briefing.

Just a day earlier, President Volodymyr Zelensky acknowledged, yet again, that Ukraine is facing a “very difficult” situation in Pokrovsk, but threw the responsibility of ordering a withdrawal from the city and nearby areas on his military commanders.

“No one is forcing them to die for the sake of ruins. I will support our soldiers, especially the commanders who are there, in how they can control the situation. Otherwise, it will be too expensive for us – the most important thing for us is our soldiers,” he said .

Of course, many of the Ukrainian troops still fighting in the city are not awaiting an order to withdraw from Zelensky and his military commanders any more. Instead, they are opting to surrender to the Tsentr Group of Forces.

In a testimony shared by the Russian MoD on November 14, a soldier from Ukraine’s 32nd Separate Mechanized Brigade who identified himself as Vadim Zakusilo stated: “No matter how hard we try to resist, we are not going to take hold of Krasnoarmeysk”

“I ended up in Krasnoarmeysk. We got some drones and radios. A little bit earlier, I started demanding that some food and water be supplied to us. I said over the radio: ‘You don’t give us anything to eat! I’m starving’, said the prisoner of war Zakusilo. – I surrendered immediately. I realized we were going to have a lot of losses. There are not enough people to win. No matter how hard we try resist, we are not going to take hold of Krasnoarmeysk. No chance. Soon there will be no people at all,” he said.

“We were spotted by a drone with a payload-release system. The team attacked us. We stayed alive – it hooked up and exploded not far from our position. When the second drone spotted us, your sabotage and reconnaissance group came to us. We were covered, we heard the launched on us attack. We immediately raised our hands and surrendered. Ukrainian troops wanted to kill us. While I was retreating with Russian soldiers, our mortars and drones attacked us,” he added.

It is clear that Ukraine is heading towards a catastrophic defeat in Pokrovsk. Kiev paid a heavy price to prolong the battle in the city, not only there, but also in other directions which suffered major shortages that led to the collapse of defenses, like in the direction of Huliapole in Zaporizhzhia.

Zelensky’s decision to keep his troops trapped there is meant to delay a defeat that could jeopardize his chances of soliciting more support from his backers in the West, especially the United States.
