Russian Army Captures Town Near Seversk, Expands Control Along Kharkiv & Repels Attack (Videos)

On October 24, the Russian military captured a key settlement near the city of Seversk in Donetsk, expanded its control along the border with Kharkiv, and repelled a Ukrainian counterattack close to the city of Kupyansk.

In Donetsk, the Yug [South] Group of Forces captured Dronivka, located right to the northwest of Seversk, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense. The attack on the settlement was led by the 7th Separate Guards Motor Rifle Brigade, which was congratulated by Defense Minister Andrey Belousov.

“You have made a significant step towards Victory and achieving the goals of the special military operation. There is no doubt that new successes will follow,” MoD quoted Belousov as saying.

The loss of Dronivka was nothing short of a blow to Kiev forces. From the settlement, Russian troops can advance along the railroad, directly towards the northern entrance of Seversk. The only obstacle in the way is the narrow and shallow Bakhmutovka River.

However, before advancing there, the Yug Group of Forces will likely attempt to reach the southern entrance of Seversk, to mount more pressure on Ukrainian troops in the city. To achieve this, Zvanivka should be captured. It is unclear if the settlement is currently under attack.

Meanwhile in Kharkiv, Kiev forces took another blow. The Sever [North] Group of Forces captured Bolohivka, along the border with the Belgorod region, significantly expanding its control to the south of Odradne, according to the Russian MoD. The settlement was captured by the 11th Tank Regiment of the 18th Guards Motor Rifle Division.

Russian troops will likely link up with their comrades in Stroivka further to the south along the border in the coming few days.

The next target for the Sever Group of Forces in this part of Kharkiv will likely be Dovrichans’ke. Advancement towards the settlement could begin soon.

Moving a bit to the south in Kharkiv, the Zapad [West] Group of Forces made additional gains in Kupiansk. Russian troops advanced in the center of the city, and captured the automotive technical school and the Metiz plant.

Kiev forces are still showing resistance, however. Close to Kupyansk, the Zapad Group of Forces repelled a counterattack recently. Ukrainian troops advanced in heavily-armored personnel carriers, only to be targeted by Russian drone units. The entire force was wiped out.

All in all, Ukraine is facing serious problems not only in Donetsk and Kharkiv, but very much everywhere else in the special military operation zone.

While Kiev forces have been retreating very slowly so far, a catastrophic collapse seems inevitable. The complete lack of military strategy, a serious shortage in manpower and the unwillingness to compromise politically are all pushing Ukraine towards a defeat.
