Russian Army Captures Uspenovka As Ukrainian Collapse Continues In Zaporizhia (Videos)

On November 7, the Russian military captured Uspenovka as Ukrainian defenses continued to collapse between Zaporizhia And Dnepropetrovsk.

The key settlement, which is located along the Yanchur River In Zaporizhia, was captured by the Vostok [East] Group of Forces, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense, which said in a statement that the attack the 127th Motorized Rifle Division of the 5th Guards Combined Arms Army led operations there.

As a result of the battle in Uspenovka, seven square kilometers, including over 1,100 buildings, were secured by Russian troops, who also destroyed more than 50 pieces of Ukrainian military equipment.

“The northeastern part of Uspenovka was protected by a natural boundary – the Yanchur River, which significantly complicated the actions of the advancing units. Despite difficult conditions and heavy enemy fire, the assault units acted decisively and coherently, completing the assigned task in the shortest possible time,” the ministry said in its statement. “Uspenovka is the second largest and most significant settlement in the Huliaipole district, the largest on the Uspenovka bridgehead. The village stretches along the Yanchur River for more than 5 kilometers and represents a complex fortified area, saturated with firing positions and engineering obstacles.”

Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov congratulated the command and personnel of the 218th Guards Tank Regiment of the 127th Motorized Rifle Division on the capture of the settlement.

“In all directions of the special military operation, the regiment’s personnel demonstrated exemplary bravery, heroism, and selflessness, thus continuing the glorious traditions of our warriors during the Great Patriotic War,” said the minister in a statement posted to Telegram. “We will always remember the warriors of the regiment, who added their names to the history and gave their lives in the fight for our Motherland.”

Just a day earlier, it was reported that the Vostok Group of Forces had stormed Solodke, located a few kilometers to the northwest of Uspenovka.

More recent reports indicate that Russian troops are now also attacking Nove and Novouspenivske, which are located right to the south of Uspenovka. Further to the south, the troops are reported to be approaching Vesele, Zelenyi Hai and Vysoke. Fighting there could begin any day.

In Dnepropetrovsk to the north, the Vostok Group of Forces is also reported to be engaged in fierce battles, mainly Hai, also known as Gai, and the nearby area of Otradne. A collapse in Ukrainian defenses there is to be expected.

The Russian military has clearly begun advancing towards the Ukrainian defense line along the Haichur River, which leads to Huliaipole.

The chances of stopping the advance of the Russian military in open areas before the river are slim. The main battle will likely take place in Huliaipole itself. However, if Kiev forces failed to hold onto its positions along the Haichur, the city would become very much defensible.
