On October 27, the Russian military cut a key road linking the cities of Krasny Liman and Seversk in the Donetsk direction, putting more pressure on Kiev forces.
The road was reportedly blocked by the Yug [South] Group of Forces in the Medovy Forest, close to Dibrova to the south of Krasny Liman. This means that Russian troops may be situated around one kilometer, or even less, from the southern entrance of the city.
While the road was cut close to Krasny Liman, Kiev forces in Seversk took the bigger hit. Without the road, sending supplies to the city will be far more complicated. It’s worth noting that the city is already facing much pressure from Russian troops, who are advancing to the north and south of it.
The Yug Group of Forces could expand its control along the road once Yampil is fully secured. Fierce battles continue in the settlement, which is located halfway between Krasny Liman and Seversk. Kiev forces have already lost much of the settlement.
Back to Krasny Liman, the Yug Group of Forces advancing slowly, but surely towards the city, not just from the south, but also from the east and northeast.
Russian troops recently repelled a Ukrainian counterattack near Tors’ke, located to the east of Krasny Liman, and eliminated most of the troops who took part in it. The troops have been advancing in the Yar Pinkov, closer to the city’s eastern outskirts.
To the northeast of Krasny Liman, the Yug Group of Forces is fighting in the southern part of Stavky. The settlement is expected to come under Russian control within a few days.
The Yug Group of Force also continues to expand its control to the south of Derylove, in Novoselivka and close to Yarova. No major gains were reported there in recent days, but a breakthrough towards the Siverskyi Donets River is to be expected.
All in all, the battles in Kransy Liman and Seversk are both going in favor of the Russian military. Kiev forces are still capable of conducting counterattacks between the two cities. However, they clearly don’t have any comprehensive strategy. In general, Ukraine is only fighting on a tactical level, trying to hold on to one area after another.
