Russian Army Deepens Breakthrough In Dnepropetrovsk, Captures Gai (Videos)

On November 17, the Russian military deepened its breakthrough in Dnepropetrovsk, capturing another key settlement from Kiev forces.

Gai, also known as Hai, is located in an important area between the Vovcha and Yanhcur rivers. It was captured by the 36th Guards Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 29th Guards Combined Arms Army, a part of the Vostok [East] Group of Forces, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense.

“During the swift attack, an important road junction was taken under control, as well as an area of more than 5 square kilometers,” the ministry said in a statement.

“Units of the Vostok Group of Forces continue to press the enemy in the Dnipropetrovsk region, consistently breaking down its defensive lines and creating conditions for the development of the offensive in several directions,” it added.

Ukraine’s 154th Mechanized Brigade took heavy losses while attempting to hold onto Gai. It lost a company’s worth of personnel in addition to ten pieces of military equipment.

To the east of Gai, the Vostok Group of Forces expanded its control around Orestopil, which was captured just a few days earlier. Russian troops secured more than 16 square kilometers south of the Vovcha, to the east and west of the settlement.

The Vostok Group of Forces is now reportedly advancing towards Tykhe on the Vovcha. Troops have already reached the southern outskirts of the settlement after capturing an area of around five square kilometers.

To the south along the Haichur River in Zaporozhye, the situation is even worse for Kiev forces. Multiple breakthroughs by the Vostok Group of Forces were reported, all in the direction of the key city of Huliapole.

Some preliminary reports say that Russian troops are advancing around Vesele and Zelenyi, while others indicate that Ukrainian defenses near Zatyshshya are being overrun. There are even rumors of troops reaching the northern outskirts of Huliapole. None of these claims have been yet confirmed by the Russian MoD.

All in all, Ukrainian defenses along the Yanchur collapsed, the one along the Vovcha is collapsing, and the other on the Haichur will likely begin collapsing very soon. Ukraine is on its way to lose all settlements along these three rivers within a few months, if not weeks.

This catastrophic collapse is the direct result of Kiev’s decision to prioritize the defense of the city of Pokrovsk in Donetsk. Most of the city has been captured by the Russian military, but Ukraine is pouring in more troops into that direction just to delay the defeat.
