The Russian military’s Sever (North) Group of Forces has defeated the Ukrainian force that was besieged near the settlement of Olgovskaya Roshch in the Kursk direction, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced on November 20.
In its daily briefing, the ministry also said that the group inflicted heavy losses on Ukraine’s 41st, 44th, 47th, 115th mechanized brigades, 5th Tank Brigade, 82nd Air Assault Brigade, 36th Marine Brigade, 112th and 129th territorial defense brigades close to the settlements of Aleksandriya, Viktorovka, Daryino, Lebedevka, Malaya Loknya, Nikolsky, Novoivanovka, and Sverdlikovo.
Additionally, Russian air and artillery strikes hit Ukrainian troops and equipment near the settlements of Agronom, Aleksandriya, Guyevo, Zazulevka, Zeleny Shlyakh, Kazachaya Loknya, Kolmakov, Lebedevka, Leonidovo, Martynovka, Makhnovka, Melovoy, Mirny, Nizhny Klin, Nikolayevka, Nikolsky, Novoivanovka, Plyokhovo, Sverdlikovo, Staraya Sorochina, Sudzha, and Cherkasskoye Porechnoye in Kursk as well as close to the settlements of Basovka, Belovody, Zhuravka, Miropolye, Pavlovka, and Yunakovka in the neighboring Ukrainian region of Sumy region.
“Over the past 24 hours, the AFU [Armed Force of Ukraine] losses amounted to more than 400 troops, six infantry fighting vehicles, including one German-made Marder infantry fighting vehicle, four armored personnel carriers, including one American-made M113 armored personnel carrier, one Bogdana self-propelled artillery system, one British-made AS-90 self-propelled artillery system, one electronic warfare station, and 20 motor vehicles. Eleven AFU servicemen surrendered,” the ministry detailed in its briefing.
Separately, videos posted to social networks showed some of the Russian strikes that hit Kiev forces in Kursk and Sumy in the last few days.
Kiev forces launched a surprise attack from Sumy into Kursk last August. The Russian military is currently conducting a counter-attack to clear the region.
According to the Russian MoD, since the start of the battle in Kursk Kiev forces have lost 34,390 troops, 215 tanks, 147 infantry fighting vehicles, 120 armored personnel carriers, 1,190 armored fighting vehicles, 988 motor vehicles, 296 artillery guns, 40 launchers, including 11 American-made HIMARS and six MLRS systems, 13 air defense systems, seven transport-loading vehicles, 66 electronic warfare stations, 13 counter-battery radars, four aerial radars, 27 engineering vehicles, including 13 counter obstacle vehicles, one UR-77 mine clearing vehicle, six armored recovery vehicle, and one command post vehicle.
