The Russian military has repelled a wave of Ukrainian attacks in different directions, according to the September 28 briefing of the Russian Ministry of Defense.
In the Donetsk direction, the Russian Yug Group of Forces repelled two attacks by Ukraine’s 53rd and 110th mechanized brigades near Pervomayskoye and to the southwestern of Veseloye.
Up to 190 Ukrainian troops were killed or wounded during the fighting in this direction, the ministry said, adding that 11 motor vehicles, one BM-21 Grad multiple rocket launcher, one American-made M777 towed howitzer, two D-20 towed howitzers and one Msta-B towed howitzer were also destroyed.
In the Zaporozhye direction, a series of Russian strikes targeted the 65th mechanized and 82nd air assault brigades close to Rabotino and to the northwestern of Verbovoye.
The ministry said that 45 Ukrainian troops, one American-made Bradley infantry fighting vehicle, two armored fighting vehicles and three motor vehicles were neutralized in this direction. In addition, one D-30 towed howitzer, one Gvozdika self-propelled howitzer and one American-made M119 towed howitzer were hit by counter-battery fire.
In the South Donetsk direction, the Russian Vostok Group of Forces improved its defensive positions along the frontline and repelled two Ukrainian attacks close to Priyutnoye.
Up to 105 Ukrainian troops were killed or wounded in this direction, according to the ministry. Two armored fighting vehicles and five motor vehicles were also destroyed.
Moreover, a sabotage and reconnaissance group from the Ukrainian 110th Territorial Defence Brigade was destroyed to the north of Priyutnoye.
In the Krasny Liman direction, the Russina Tsentr Group of Forces repelled an attack of the 63rd Mechanised Brigade close to Chervonaya Dibrova. The group also targeted gatherings of the 21th and 63rd mechanized brigades near Torskoye and Yampolovka.
Up to 60 Ukrainian troops, two armored fighting vehicles and two D-30 towed howitzers were neutralized in this direction, the ministry said.
In the Kupyansk direction, the Russian Zapad Group of Forces targeted several gatherings of manpower and equipment of the 14th, 32nd mechanized and 25th air assault brigades close to Zagoruikovka, Timkovka and Stelmakhovka. Up to 50 Ukrainian troops and two motor vehicles were neutralized in the strikes.
In addition, one American-made M777 towed howitzer, one American-made M109 self-propelled howitzer, one Msta-B towed howitzer and one Gvozdika self-propelled howitzer were destroyed in counter-battery fire.
An ammunition depot of the 1st Special Operations Brigade was also targeted and destroyed in the outskirts of Ogurtsovo.
Meanwhile in the Kherson direction, Kiev forces lost 20 troops, two motor vehicles and one D-30 towed howitzer to Russian military fire.
The Russian MoD also provided the following details during its briefing:
Operational-Tactical and Army aviation, Missile Troops and Artillery of the Russian Groups of Forces have engaged AFU manpower and hardware in 118 areas during the day.
In addition, the 62nd ammunition arsenal of the Army has been hit near Bogdanovka (Kirovograd region).
A command and observation post of the AFU 54th Mechanised Brigade was eliminated close to Fyodorovka (Donetsk People’s Republic).
Fighter aviation of Russian Aerospace Forces has shot down one Su-25 ground-attack aircraft of Ukrainian Air Force near Toretskoye (Donetsk People’s Republic).
Air defense forces have intercepted four HIMARS and Olkha MLRS projectiles during the day.
In addition, 26 unmanned aerial vehicles were destroyed during the day near Berestovoye, Kodema, Novopetrikovka (Donetsk People’s Republic), Samoylovka, Novoye (Zaporozhye region).
In total, 480 airplanes and 250 helicopters, 7,217 unmanned aerial vehicles, 438 air defense missile systems, 12,206 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 1,156 combat vehicles equipped with MLRS, 6,571 field artillery cannons and mortars, as well as 13,573 units of special military equipment have been destroyed during the special military operation.
In addition, Russian news sources shared videos showing recent air and artillery strikes that targeted several gatherings, ammunition depots and vehicles of Kiev forces in different directions as well as a two bridges used as a supply route in the Kharkiv region and an another unspecified area.
Kiev forces are yet to break through the main defense lines of the Russian military in any direction, despite sustaining heavy human and material losses. As winter nears and weather conditions deteriorate, the Ukrainian counteroffensive could come to a half within a few weeks.
