Russian Army Eliminated All Of Ukraine’s Bradley IFVs: Rostec Chief

The Russian military has eliminated practically all American-made Bradley infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs) delivered to Ukraine, Russia’s state tech corporation c Sergey Chemezov said on June 10.

“Bradley IFVs have one serious weakness: problems with their cross country capability, due to which they cannot move normally on rough terrain and through fields. They get stuck in dense soil and become an easy target due to their huge dimensions. What’s the use of improved protection, if the result is the same? Practically, all the Bradleys supplied to Ukraine have been destroyed now. You have to understand after all that an IFV is not a tank,” Chemezov was quoted by TASS as saying in an interview with the Razvedchik journal.

An infantry fighting vehicle should be quick, mobile and capable of moving across rough terrain and also across rivers afloat without bridges and roads, he said.

“Our IFVs are capable of this, whereas American vehicles are not,” the Rostec chief stressed.

By saying eliminated, Chemezov likely meant that all of Ukraine’s Bradley vehicles were either destroyed, damaged or captured.

The United States has delivered around 300 M2A2 Bradley ODS-SA IFVs in addition to four M7 Bradley Fire Support Vehicles to Kiev forces over the last two years.

The Bradley is armed with a 25 mm M242 chain gun with 900 rounds, a 7.62 mm coaxial M240C machine gun with 2,200 rounds and a dual TOW anti-tank guided missile launcher with seven missiles.

The version supplied to Ukraine, named after Operation Desert Storm, features an improved Cummins VTA-903T 8-cylinder diesel engine that generates 600 hp along with an HMPT-500-3 Hydromechanical transmission. Still, this was not apparently enough to solve the mobility issues of the 75-ton vehicle.

Last year, CNN reported that Ukrainian troops were unhappy with the vehicles’ winter performance and the condition of some they received from the U.S.

Kiev forces lost most of their Bradleys during their 2023 spring counteroffensive in the Zaporizhzhia direction, then during the failed infiltration into the Russian region of Kursk in 2024. Dozens of IFVs were also destroyed by Russian troops during their advance in Donetsk over the past year.

Ukraine is likely receiving more Bradleys in secret from the United States, which is reported to have as many as 2,000 in storage as of 2025.
