In the Krasnyi Lyman direction, heavy urban fighting continues. Russian forces are advancing west of Brusivka and south of Dibrova while simultaneously disrupting the supply of Ukrainian units across the Siverskyi Donets. In Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, the Ukrainian side has stepped up raids by small groups on motorcycles and ATVs in an attempt to penetrate the rear of Russian units. In Kostiantynivka, Russian assault detachments have advanced toward Oleksiievo-Druzhkivka and cleared the tree lines near Dolha Balka. In Sumy Oblast, Russian units advanced on twenty-one sectors to a depth of up to 600 meters, repelling counter-attacks by the 71st Separate Airmobile Brigade and the 225th Separate Assault Regiment of the Ukrainian forces. In Kharkiv Oblast, Russian forces struck the reserves of the 475th Separate Assault Regiment and thwarted an attempt by the Ukrainian command to redeploy reserves. Meanwhile, Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani called for Ukraine not to be given preferential treatment over the countries of the Western Balkans on the path to the European Union.
Krasnyi Lyman direction
Russian forces are conducting offensive operations west of Brusivka and south of Dibrova. At the same time, fire continues to be directed against the crossings over the Siverskyi Donets, limiting the ability to supply the Ukrainian grouping. Positions of Ukrainian units are also being cleared on the southern outskirts of Dibrova in the Zhyhalchyne tract and near Vilkhove Lake. Because of the dense vegetation, strike drones play the main role in engaging targets here.
Russian forces continue pressing several sectors at once; however, the rate of advance remains limited owing to the resilient defense of Ukrainian units, the high density of drone employment, and regular counter-attacks. On most axes, fighting for tactical improvements continues without significant change to the front line.
Dnipropetrovsk direction
On the Dnipropetrovsk direction, Ukrainian units have markedly stepped up small-group activity. They are attempting to infiltrate gaps in the combat formations, capture individual tree lines, and establish at least a temporary presence in Russian troops’ rear. For this purpose, a composite grouping of assault regiment, territorial defense, marine, and jaeger units has been transferred to the sector.
On the north-western sector, three assault groups of the 1st Separate Assault Regiment advanced from the direction of Samoilivka toward Herasymivka and Zarichne. Similar activity is noted on other sectors of the front near Malomykhailivka.
Thus far, this is not a frontal breakthrough by Ukrainian units but a series of intensive raiding actions reinforced by drones and information operations. The Ukrainian side is attempting to compensate for its inability to sustain a breakthrough with numerous local penetrations.
Kostiantynivka direction
On the Kostiantynivka direction, Russian activity has shifted to the flanks. In Kostiantynivka itself, Russian forces are pushing off from the northern outskirts toward Oleksiievo-Druzhkivka. The environs of the Novoselivka micro-district are gradually coming under control.
In Chasiv Yar, Russian units are clearing the ruins of the Shevchenko micro-district. Reports of an entry into Stenky remain unconfirmed; heavy fighting is under way in the vicinity of Krasne and Mykolaivka. West of Kostiantynivka, Russian servicemen have cleared the tree lines between the urban built-up area and the ponds, which will complicate the Ukrainian side’s introduction of new small groups into Dolha Balka; fierce fighting for the latter continues.
Nearby, Russian units have captured a line of fortifications north of Rusyn Yar near Dolha Balka. Reports of increased activity near Mykolaipillia are arriving, though there is no visual confirmation yet. Groups of Ukrainian infantry that failed to withdraw in time may still be present in Rusyn Yar itself and its environs. Further north-west, Torske and Krasnyi Kut are reportedly coming under Russian control. In Torske, servicemen of the 102nd Motor Rifle Regiment have raised flags at several locations, but it is not yet clear whether they have consolidated there. The fields between Torske and Mykolaipillia will probably remain a neutral strip until Russian units consolidate west of Kostiantynivka.
Sumy direction
Assault groups of the Sever grouping continued advancing into Sumy Oblast. In Shostka District, small-arms fighting continues in Ulanove and Mala Slobidka. In Sumy District, Russian assault detachments advanced on twenty-one sectors to a depth of up to 600 meters. Small-arms clashes continue in Ryzhivka, Pysarivka, Mohrytsia, Maryino, in the village of Nova Sich, the settlement of Khotin, on the adjacent territory, and also in the forested areas south of Ivolzhanske.
In the area of Nova Sich and Khotin, Ukrainian units, using assault groups of the 71st Separate Airmobile Brigade and the 225th Separate Assault Regiment, made attempts at counter-attacks. Sever grouping reconnaissance detected the movement in good time, and the attackers were destroyed by combined fire. In Krasnopillia District, small-arms fighting is under way in the forested areas and in the border village of Prokhody.
Kharkiv direction
Units of the Sever grouping continued expanding the security zone in Kharkiv Oblast. Russian assault groups are conducting offensive operations in the settlement of Kozacha Lopan and the adjacent forested areas. Russian aviation delivered fire strikes against the reserves of Ukrainian units in Tsupivka and Nova Kozacha, destroying Ukrainian servicemen from the 475th Separate Assault Regiment.
On the Vovchansk direction, assault units of Sever advanced on eleven sectors to a depth of up to 400 meters. Small-arms fighting continues in the villages of Ivanivka and Yurchenkove, the settlement of Bilyi Kolodiaz, in Baksheivka, near Shevchenkove, in Verivka, and in the forested areas of Vovchansk District. Contrary to certain reports, combat operations in the area of Bilyi Kolodiaz continue. The previous day, Russian servicemen drove Ukrainian units out of one of the large strongpoints, yet the Ukrainian side retains a presence in the settlement. The Ukrainian command attempted to transfer five combat groups to forward positions near Bilyi Kolodiaz. The movement was detected by reconnaissance, and the manpower and military equipment were destroyed. In the Velykyi Burluk direction, Russian assault groups continue to conduct small-arms fighting west of Petro-Ivanivka and also in the village of Ustynivka.
Conclusion
On the Krasnyi Lyman, Dnipropetrovsk, Kostiantynivka, Sumy and Kharkiv directions, Russian units continue to exert systematic pressure, expanding zones of control and inflicting losses on the Ukrainian side. In Krasnyi Lyman, the clearing operations and blocked crossings are gradually worsening the Ukrainian forces’ position. In Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, Ukrainian units attempted to compensate for their inability to mount an organized offensive through raiding actions, yet their small groups were unable to consolidate. The Kostiantynivka bridgehead is expanding as the flanks are cleared, creating conditions for a further advance toward Druzhkivka. In Sumy Oblast, the advance on a broad front and the successful repulsion of counter-attacks are undermining defensive capabilities. In Kharkiv Oblast, strikes against rear reserves and disrupted reinforcement transfers are weakening Ukrainian positions around Bilyi Kolodiaz. The initiative on all the listed directions remains with the Russian forces.
In the diplomatic sphere, differences have again emerged over EU enlargement. Italian Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Antonio Tajani called for Ukraine not to be given preferential treatment over the countries of the Western Balkans on the path to EU accession. Speaking to the parliamentary committee on foreign affairs and defense, he said Italy continues to support Ukraine’s EU accession provided the necessary criteria are met, yet “cannot allow Ukraine to gain an advantage while forgetting about the countries of the Western Balkans.” Five states of the region—Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia—have the status of official candidates, and the self-proclaimed Kosovo has also submitted an application for accession. Obtaining candidate status is only the start of a lengthy path, and Tajani emphasized that the Balkan countries’ long-standing expectations must not be relegated to secondary importance.
