Early on August 6, the Russian military foiled an new attempt by Kiev forces to target the Bryansk region with suicide drones.
Governor Alexander Bogomaz said that air defenses intercepted two drones over the district of Karachevsky in Bryansk, adding that there were no casualties.
“The Russian Armed Forces’ air defense system destroyed two aircraft-type drones over the Karachevsky district. There is no destruction and no casualties,” Bogomaz wrote on Telegram.
Emergency services are working in Karachevsky, the governor said, without providing any further details on the attack attempt.
The attempt was the most recent in a series of attacks by Kiev forces on Russian territory. The main purpose of these attacks appears to be to deflect attention from the status of the Ukrainian counteroffensive, which has so far failed to achieve any of its objectives.
The Russian military has not only halted the advance of Kiev forces, but also managed to make some gains in several directions.
On August 6, the Russian Zapad Group of Forces said that its units advanced into the depth of Ukrainian defenses near Olshany and captured four strongholds, seven observation posts and defeated an infantry company from the 14th Separate Mechanized Brigade. In addition, the group destroyed an ammunition depot and a pickup truck. A Mortar, small arms, ammunition and communications equipment were also seized by the group.
Su-34 fighter bombers of the group also carried out two airstrikes against a point of temporary deployment of Ukraine’s 103rd Separate Territorial Defense Brigade and a gathering of manpower and equipment of the 14th Separate Mechanized Brigade.
Moreover, the group foiled two counterattacks by Kiev forces on its newly-established positions near Novoselovskoe. An entire infantry platoon was neutralized during the fighting.
The artillery of the Zapad Group of Forces also destroyed an American-made M777 towed howitzer close to Malaya Shapka and a Polish-made Krab self-propelled howitzer with its ammunition near Sandy Upper. In addition, an American-made M109 self-propelled howitzer was destroyed near Petropavlovka with a Lancet loitering munition.
Meanwhile, in the Krasny-Liman direction, the Russian Tsentr Group of Forces repelled yet another attack by Kiev forces with help from aviation.
“During an active defense of sections taken in the Krasny Liman area, Russian artillery and assault aviation strikes deflected attempted attacks by Ukraine’s two mechanized brigades and the National Guard’s 15th regiment. The adversary’s losses amounted to about 100 militants, four servicemen surrendered, an armored vehicle and two pickup trucks were eliminated,” a spokesman for the group, Alexander Savchuk, told TASS.
The spokesman added that in the Svatovo area, the group’s aviation delivered strikes on the assault units of Ukraine’s 43rd Mechanized Brigade.
He also told the Russian news agency that the group destroyed three howitzers of Kiev forces with Lancet loitering munitions.
“Lancet loitering munitions have hit a Western-made M777 howitzer. During counterbattery work, the adversary’s M777 howitzer, Msta-B howitzer and 120mm mortar were also hit,” he said.
According to the group’s spokesman, air defense systems had also shot down four Ukrainian drones and three HIMARS precision-guided rockets.
In addition, Russian news sources shared videos showing recent strikes against Ukrainian troops and equipment with Lancet loitering munitions, FPV suicide drones, artillery and anti-tank guided missiles.
With the end of the ninth week of its counteroffensive, Ukraine is yet to make any real achievement in the battlefield. Kiev forces sustained heavy human and material losses and are still bogged down kilometers away from the Russian military’s first lines of defense in most directions.

some of these drone operators stink, and hit the dirt next to a vehicle and not the vehicle itself. if i was their officer i would make them clean the trenches every time they fucked up. it almost seems like they do it on purpose. these kids learned how to do this with video games so they can’t be this clumsy.
except the difference is, a video game drone does not carry a warhead heavier than the $150 drone itself. that squad has destroyed tons of vehicles at this point so they are doing a good job overal, but yeah you cant score a direct hit 100% of the time. tho if it were me i would have taken a different approach angle, one where you fly at them in a straight line.
