The Russian military thwarted four drone attacks by Kiev forces in the last 24 hours, according to the Russian ministry of Defense.
The first attack attempt took place on August 12 afternoon. Russian air defense shot down a Ukrainian suicide drone that was on its way target a facility in the Belograd region.
“Today, at about 5:30 p.m. Moscow Time, the Kiev regime’s attempt to carry out a terrorist attack with one unmanned aerial vehicle on targets on the territory of the Russian Federation was thwarted. Russian air defenses detected the unmanned aerial vehicle and destroyed it over the Belgorod Region,” the ministry said in a statement, adding that there was neither damage nor casualties as a result of the foiled attack.
Early on August 13, the ministry said that a second suicide drone was shot down over Belgord by Russian air defenses. The attack attempt also didn’t result in any losses.
“At around 4 a.m., an attempt by the Kiev regime to carry out a terrorist attack by an aircraft-type unmanned aerial vehicle against facilities on the territory of the Russian Federation was foiled,” the ministry said. “Russian air defense means to detect and destroy the unmanned aerial vehicle over the territory of Belgorod region.”
A third Ukrainian drone was shot down by Russian air defenses over the region just a few hours later, according to the ministry.
In a statement, the ministry said that “at about 11 a.m. Moscow time, an attempt by the Kiev regime to carry out a terrorist attack by an aircraft-type unmanned aerial vehicle against facilities on the territory of the Russian Federation was foiled,” adding that there were no losses as a result of the attack attempt.
The ministry said in a latter statement that another suicide drone was shot down over the Kursk region at around the same time.
“At about 11.30 a.m. Moscow time, an attempt by the Kiev regime to carry out a terrorist attack by an aircraft-type UAV against facilities on the territory of the Russian Federation was foiled. A Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicle was detected and destroyed by Russian air defense means over the territory of Kursk region. There were no casualties or destruction,” the statement reads.
The Kiev regime stepped up its attacks on Russian territory in recent days as its forces continue to struggle to make new gains on the front.
The Russian Zapad Group of Forces seized two strongholds from Kiev forces in the Kupyansk direction on August 13, a spokesman for the group told TASS.
“During the battles in the Kupyansk direction, assault groups of the 6th combined arms army seized two strongholds, three observation posts and defeated an infantry platoon near the settlement of Olshana,” the spokesman said.
The group also repelled two attacks by Ukraine’s 41st separate mechanized and 95th separate airborne brigades near Sinkovka and in the Mankovka natural area.
“All the counter attacks were successfully repulsed. The enemy’s losses amounted to a platoon of manpower,” the Russian news agency quoted the group’s spokesman as saying.
In addition, TOS-1A heavy multiple rocket launchers of the group targeted a stronghold of the 14th separate mechanized brigade close to Sinkovka. A reconnaissance and assault squad of the group also wiped out a Polish-made Krab self-propelled howitzer using a Lancet loitering munition near Shevstov Yar.
Two attacks by the 32nd and 44th separate mechanized brigades of Kiev forces were also repelled by the group near Novosyolovskoye. The group’s artillery inflicted damage on the enemy, eliminating a platoon of adversary manpower, the spokesman said.
Meanwhile in the Kherson direction, the Russian military destroyed a boat, three mortars and an American-made M777 towed howitzer of Kiev forces, a spokesman for the regional emergency services reported on August 13.
“Units of the Dnepr battlegroup destroyed the following targets in the Kherson direction as a result of damage inflicted by firepower: a boat and five Ukrainian militants and a Ukrainian army emplacement (casualties: five Ukrainian militants were killed and four others suffered wounds of varying severity), three 120mm mortar teams with ammunition (casualties: 13 Ukrainian militants were destroyed and another seven received wounds of varying severity), an M777 howitzer with ammunition (casualties: three Ukrainian militants were killed and four others sustained wounds of varying severity),” the spokesman said.
According to the spokesman, the Russian military also destroyed another Ukrainian 120 mm mortar in the island zone, a Msta-B towed howitzer and a Ukrainian deployment point in the Kakhovka direction.
Meanwhile, Russian news sources shared videos showing Russian pinpoint airstrikes on a Ukrainian stronghold, the first confirmed destruction of a Polish-made Rosomak armored personnel carrier of Kiev forces and two recent strikes with Lancet loitering munitions that destroyed a unidentified tank and an American-made M109 self-propelled howitzer.
Ukraine launched its counteroffensive around ten weeks ago. Its forces sustained heavy human and material losses. However, they are yet to reach the Russian military’s first line of defense. This failure is what is driving the Kiev regime to increase attacks on Russian territory.
