A Ukrainian reconnaissance and sabotage group that attempted to land on Kinburn Spit in the Kherson direction on August 9 morning was eliminated, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense.
In a brief statement, the ministry said that the landing attempt, which was orchestrated by the Maritime Special Operations Centre of the Ukrainian Navy, was quickly foiled by the Russian military.
The saboteurs, numbering up to 16, moved on two speedboats under the cover of two fire support boats and attempted to launch an assault on the Kinburn Spit.
“The enemy suffered the first losses close to the shore on the minefields. Those who managed to disembark were eliminated by small-arms fire,” the ministry said. “Having suffered heavy losses, the militants attempted to evacuate from the shore line. However, artillery and ATGM [anti-tank guided missile] fire neutralized two boats of the enemy.”
12 Ukrainian saboteurs were killed and two boats were destroyed, according to the ministry, which released video footage showing the aftermath of the failed landing attempt.
The landing attempt came just a few days after Kiev forces launched a surprise large-scale attack in the Russian region of Kursk.
These operations appear to be a desperate attempt by the Kiev regime to distract the Russian military, which has been advancing rapidly in the Donetsk direction. Kiev forces have been paying a heavy price for these stunts.
