On July 30, Ukraine launched two attacks with drones against the Crimean Peninsula and the Russian capital, Moscow, in an attempt to make up for the failure of its counteroffensive. However, both attacks were foiled.
The Russian Ministry of Defense said in a statement that 25 Ukrainian suicide drones attempted to attack Crimea in the early morning. 16 of the drones were intercepted by air defense systems and the remaining nine were suppressed by electronic warfare means.
“Tonight, the Kiev regime attempted to carry out a terrorist attack with 25 drones of airplane type on facilities on the territory of the Crimean peninsula. Sixteen Ukrainian drones were destroyed by air defense systems. Another nine Ukrainian drones were suppressed by electronic warfare and, having failed to reach the target, crashed into the waters of the Black Sea and Cape Tarkhankut,” the ministry said. According to it, there were no casualties or damage.
In a separate statement, the ministry said that three suicide drones launched by Kiev forces attempted to attack targets in Moscow.
According to the ministry, one of the drones was intercepted by air defense systems over the Odintsovo district of the Moscow region. The other two were suppressed by electronic warfare means and crashed into non-residential buildings close to Moscow city after losing control.
The two attack attempts come as Kiev forces continue to suffer heavy losses while attempting to advance in several directions.
In its daily brifying, the Russian MoD reported several failed Ukrainian attacks in the directions of South Donetsk, Krasny Liman and Donetsk.
The Russian Yug Group of Forces repelled seven attacks close to Kleshcheevka, Andreevka and Krasnogorovka in the Donetsk direction. The group also targeted several Ukrainian units near Druzhba, Berdychi, Kleshcheevka, Avdeevka, Krasnoye and Pobeda. Moreover, an ammunition depot of Ukraine’s 124th Territorial Defence Brigade located near Dzerzhinsk was destroyed by the group.
Ukrainian losses in this direction amounted to 190 troops, two armored fighting vehicles, four motor vehicles, two American-made M777 towed as well as Msta-B and D-20 towed howitzers, according to the ministry.
In the South Donetsk and Zaporozhye directions, the Russian Vostok Group of Forces repelled an attack by Kiev forces close to Uspenovka. The group also launched strikes against several gatherings of manpower and equipment near Zherebyanki, Novodanilovka, Veseloye and north of Rabotino.
In addition, the Vostok Group of Forces disrupted an operation by a Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance group close to Charivnoye.
Kiev forces 250 troops, a tank, three armored fighting vehicles, four motor vehicles, as well as Msta-B and D-20 towed howitzers in this direction, the ministry said.
Meanwhile in the Krasny Liman direction, the Russian Tsentr Group of Forces repelled three attacks near Kovalyovka as well as in the Serebryansky forest area. The group also targeted gatherings of Kiev forces close to Torskoye, Serebryanka, Grigorovka, Chervonaya Dibrova, Nevskoye and west of Novovodyanoye.
The ministry said that 140 Ukrainian troops, two armored fighting vehicles, three motor vehicles and a D-30 towed howitzer were neutralized in this direction.
The situation in other directions, according to the statement of the Russian MoD:
In the Kupyansk direction, assault detachments of the Zapad Group of Forces continued offensive operations forward Novosyolovskoye (Lugansk People’s Republic) and advanced 300 meters into the depth of the enemy defense.
In addition, AFU units have been hit near Timkovka, Peschanoye, Olshana, and Novomlynsk (Kharkov region), and Stelmakhovka, Novosyolovskoye and Artyomovka (Lugansk People’s Republic).
1 ammunition depot of the AFU 125th Brigade of the Territorial Defense of Ukraine has been destroyed near Izbitskoye (Kharkov region).
The enemy losses were up to 80 Ukrainian servicemen, 4 motor vehicles, as well as 1 Gvozdika self-propelled artillery system and 1 D-30 howitzer.
In the Kherson direction, the enemy losses were up to 65 Ukrainian servicemen and 5 motor vehicles.
Operational-Tactical and Army aviation, Missile Troops and Artillery of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation have neutralized 102 AFU artillery units at their firing positions, manpower and hardware in 108 areas.
In addition, a retraining center and a storage, maintenance and repair point of AFU drones have been destroyed near Mogilyovka (Dnepropetrovsk region).
1 command post of the 100th Territorial Defence Brigade has been hit close to Yampol (Donetsk People’s Republic).
Fighter Aviation of the Russian Aerospace Forces has shot down 1 Mi-8 helicopter of Ukrainian Air Force near Vozdvizhenka (Donetsk People’s Republic).
Air defense units have shot down 44 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles close to Tavolzhanka (Kharkov region), Zaliman, Rubezhnoye, Kremennaya, Raigorodka (Lugansk People’s Republic), Sladkoye, Staromikhailovka (Donetsk People’s Republic), Shevchenkovo, Dolinka, Trudovoye, Novopokrovka, Mirnoye (Zaporozhye region), Staraya Zburyevka and Novaya Kakhovka (Kherson region).
In total, 457 airplanes, 245 helicopters, 5,358 unmanned aerial vehicles, 427 air defense missile systems, 11,029 tanks and other armored fighting vehicles, 1,140 fighting vehicles equipped with MLRS, 5,661 field artillery cannons and mortars, as well as 11,971 special military motor vehicles have been destroyed during the special military operation.
Russian news sources also shared videos showing the destruction of two armored personnel vehicles, two self-propelled howitzers, a truck and two anti-tank guided missile systems of Kiev forces with artillery fire, Lancet loitering munitions and FPV suicide drones.
Ukraine’s counteroffensive is clearly not going according to the plans of the Kiev regime and its backers in the West. The attempts to attack Crimea and Moscow will likely worsen the situation for Kiev forces and provoke a fierce response from the Russian military.

russian air defense needs to place more optical/infrared sensors and sosna sam (laser guided) anti-aircraft systems around moscow and important targets. even the most advanced long range radars cannot detect a super low flying drone with radar cross section of insect flying at low speeds. not until it’s way too late. only electronic warfare and optical/infrared guided missiles can counter these drones.
sosna sam uses optical and laser guided missiles which can detect very low flying tiny rcs drones. these need to be deployed near moscow and critical areas. the most advancedanti-stealth radars in the world currently (nebo-m, an-typ-4) cannot detect a drone with radar signature of an insect flying at 50 feet above ground at low speeds. physics wont allow ruaf time to also deploy plenty more electronic warfare around critical areas.
i’m sure the russians have something in research and development going on since the very first drone attack on moscow.

russia is now legally and morally justified in launching a full nuclear retaliatory strike against all the countries that have armed the terrorist nation and government in ukraine. so called rules based order in the west is merely a euphemism for a pax americana enforced by military threat, and has nothing to do with the rule of law whatsoever.
