Russian approached Pokrovsk
The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation continue developing their offensive in different directions. The encirclement of the city of Pokrovsk in the Donetsk People’s Republic is one of priority goals of the Russian military and the Russian troops are getting closer and closer to it.
On January 31st, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation officially confirmed the full control of the village of Novovasilyevka located on the southern flank of Pokrovsk. The settlement came under Russian control about a week ago. The Russian military officially confirms the victory after the end of the mop up operations and after the outskirts are secured from Ukrainian counterattacks.

Indeed, the Russian troops are already expanding their zone of control in the area. West of Novovasilyivka, Russian assault continues in the next village of Uspenovka. It is slown by large Ukrainian reserves deployed in the area and mass strikes of small FPV drones and heavy artillery fire against the Russian troops. Each of the waring sides controls about half of the village. Over the past day, Russian forces also advanced about 2 kilometers on the northern outskirts.
To the north, Russian forces continue attacks in different directions around their stronghold in Kotlino. As a result of the recent breakthrough, they advanced along the railway towards the outskirts of Pokrovsk. Heavy battles continue in Kotlino, where Ukrainian forces are holding defense despite the growing Russian pressure.
The Ukrainian military threw groups of foreign mercenaries to hold defense in the area. On of such groups was recently destroyed near Kotlino. Documents of another mercenary from Colombia replenished collections of Russian fighters.

The Russian military also increased pressure on Ukrainian defense on the frontline between Pokrovsk and Konstantinopol-Andreevka stronghold. The offensive operations are ongoing in the Kotlyarovka direction in several areas on a wide front at once. According to the latest from the battlefield, Russian assault groups launched assault on Nadezhdinka and gained a foothold in the village. At the same time, Russian forces are expanding their zone of control near Novoandreevka, completing the mop up operations in the village and approaching Sribne.
Russian advance in this direction increases pressure on the flanks of Ukrainian defense both in Pokrovsk and Konstantinopol and prevent Ukrainians from regrouping forces.
Strikes on Ukrainian military columns near Pokrovsk:
The military command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is urgently throwing additional unit to the Pokrovsk direction one after another. Some of them are destroyed or escape before they approach the battlefield. LINK Ukrainian command transfers manpower and equipment from the north of Pokrovsk to reinforce the crushing defense in the south. Ukrainian forces are building their defense on the streets of the city and hope to hide in high-rise buildings but the Russian army already has extensive experience of encircling and destroying Ukrainian fortresses.
Despite the deployment of large reserves and fierce resistance, the Armed Forces of Ukraine fail to change the balance of power and cannot gain initiative in the south of the Pokrovsk urban agglomeration. The ongoing advance of Russian forces paves the way for deepening in the operational rear of the Ukrainian army in the Dnepropetrovsk region, which may lead to the destabilization of the entire Ukrainian defense on the Donbass frontlines.
