The Russian military has reportedly inflicted heavy losses on Kiev forces in the directions of Kharkov, Kupyansk and Krasny Liman.
In the Kharkov direction, the Zapad Group of Forces thwarted an attempt by the Kiev forces to rotate their troops on the front near Dvurechnaya.
“The artillery of a motorized infantry unit has disrupted an attempt to rotate units of Ukraine’s armed forces in the line of defense of the 6th combined arms army on the frontline in the vicinity of Dvurechnaya,” Sergey Zybinsky, a spokesman for the group, told TASS on September 15.
The spokesman added that the motorized infantry units, assisted by aviation and artillery, repelled an attack by Ukraine’s 32nd motorized brigade near Kovalyovka.
In addition, a Ukrainian reconnaissance and sabotage group that attempted to infiltrate in this direction was defeated and forced to retreat.
And in the Kupyansk direction, fighter jets and attack helicopters from the Zapad Group of Forces carried out 14 airstrikes against Ukrainian gatherings of manpower and equipment.
“The crews of Ka-52, Mi-28 attack helicopters and attack aviation carried out 14 missile strikes on the accumulation of manpower, weapons and military equipment of the 14th, 32nd Ukrainian mechanized brigades and territorial defense units near Senkovka, Petropavlovka, Kotlyarovka, Vishnevaya and Nadiya,” said Zybinsky.
According to the spokesman, the group’s artillery destroyed two M109 and 2S1 Gvozdika self-propelled howitzers and an M777 towed howitzer close to Revucheye, Peschanoye and Malaya Shavkovka.
“The total losses of the enemy amounted to up to a company of personnel, an M113 armored fighting vehicle, and three unmanned aerial vehicles,” he said.
In the Krasny Liman direction, Su-25SM attack aircraft from Russia’s Central Military District have destroyed a Ukrainian stronghold, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense.
“The crews of Su-25SM attack jets from the Central Military District have completed a combat mission to eliminate the Ukrainian army’s stronghold in the Krasny Liman area in the special military operation zone. Following the configuration of the terrain at a speed of about 800 kilometers per hour and at the aircraft’s lowest altitude of 20 meters, the attack jets wiped out yet another stronghold of Ukrainian nationalists by launching unguided air rockets,” the ministry said in a press release.
Following the airstrike, the pilots returned to their home base to prepare for their next sortie, the ministry added. Video footage of the airstrike were released.
Kiev forces have sustained heavy losses in the directions of Kharkov, Kupyansk and Krasny Liman since launching their counteroffensive more than three months ago. Russian pressure in these directions distracted Kiev forces from their main objectives in Zaporozhye and Donetsk.
