Russian Army Inflicts More Losses On Kiev Forces While On Offensive In Kursk (Videos)

The Russian military’s Sever Group of Forces inflicted heavy losses on several formations of Kiev forces while conducting offensive operations in the Kursk direction, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced on October 16.

In its daily briefing, the ministry said that Ukraine’s 22nd, 41st, 47th, 115th mechanized brigades, the 17th Tank Brigade, 82nd, 95th air assault brigades, and the 36th Marine Brigade, as well as the 103rd, and 129th territorial defense brigades took losses near the settlements of Lyubimovka, Malaya Loknya, Novy Put, Novoivanovka, and Plyokhovo.

It also announced that the Sever Group of Forces repelled nine counter-attacks by Kiev forces close to the settlements of Zeleny Shlyakh, Lyubimovka, Nizhny Klin, Novoivanovka, and Plyokhovo.

“As a result, the AFU [Armed Forces of Ukraine] losses were up to 70 troops killed and wounded, one tank, one infantry fighting vehicle, seven armored fighting vehicles, and two motor vehicles. Six AFU servicemen surrendered,” the ministry detailed in its briefing.

The ministry also announced that Russian air and artillery strikes hit gatherings of the 22nd, 41st, 61st, 115th mechanized brigades, the 17th Tank Brigade, the 36th Marine Brigade, 82nd and 95th air assault brigades and the 1st National Guard Brigade, as well as the 103rd and 129th territorial defense brigades.

The gatherings were targeted near the settlements of Aleksandria, Gogolevka, Daryino, Zeleny Shlyakh, Kruglenkoye, Lebedevka, Malaya Loknya, Lyubimovka, Martynovka, Makhnovka, Novy Put, Nikolayevo-Daryino, Plyokhovo, Sverdlikovo, Sudzha, Staraya Sorochina, and Cherkasskoye Porechnoye.

Other strikes targeted, according to the ministry, the reserves of the 21st, 41st, 47th and 115th mechanized brigades, the 95th Air Assault Brigade and the 1st National Guard Brigade as well as the 101st, 103rd, and 129th territorial defense brigades close to the settlements of Belovody, Volnaya Sloboda, Zhuravka, Katerinovka, Kislaya Dubina, Luzhki, Miropolye, Pavlovka, Sosnovka, Topolya, Esman, and Yunakovka in the Ukrainian region of Kursk, which neighbors Kursk.

“During the day, the AFU losses were more than 350 troops, 21 armored vehicles, including two tanks, three infantry fighting vehicles, 16 armored fighting vehicles, five mortars, and seven motor vehicles. Six AFU servicemen surrendered,” the ministry said.

Separately, Russian media released videos showing a part of the Sever Group of Forces offensive operations in Kursk as well as recent strikes that targeted Kiev forces in the same direction.

Kiev forces launched a surprise attack from Sumy into Kursk last August. The Russian military is currently conducting a counter-attack. So far, over a dozen settlements have been liberated.

According to the Russian MoD, since the start of the battle in Kursk Kiev forces have lost 23,550 troops, 160 tanks, 75 infantry fighting vehicles, 100 armored personnel carriers, 934 armored fighting vehicles, 639 motor vehicles, 189 artillery guns, 37 launchers, including nine American-made HIMARS and six MLRS systems, nine air defense systems, five transport-loading vehicles, 48 electronic warfare stations, nine counter-battery radars, three aerial radars, 22 engineering vehicles, including 13 counter obstacle vehicles, one UR-77 mine clearing vehicle and three armored recovery vehicle.
