The Russian military is reportedly developing a new generation of FPV suicide drones guided via fiber-optic cables with a range of up to 50 kilometers.
Video footage that leaked online on June 5 showed a prototype of one such drone being tasted with a large spool of fiber-optic cable. The spool itself is said to have a weight of 3.8 kilogram, which is not much considering that it contains a 50 kilometer cable.
FPV drones guided via fiber-optic cables are harder to detect as they emit no radio signals. They are also impossible to jam. On top of that, the high-speed connection that the cable provides is very stable and allows for more responsive control by the operator in real time.
The Russian military pioneered fiber-optic guided FPV drones. Over the past year, the expanded the use of such drones against Kiev forces.
Julian Röpcke, a journalist with Germany’s BILD, claimed last May on the X social network that the Russian military was using close to 1,000 “state-of-the-art” FPV drones every day, and speculated that the number will likely rise to 2,000 in coming months.
The Washington Post also reported in May that FPV suicide drones with fiber optic cables played a key role in the defeat of Kiev forces in the Russian region of Kursk.
Russian fiber-optic guided FPV drones have already reached the range of 30 kilometers. In recent days, attacks with such drones on Ukrainian military targets in the city of Khakiv, located more than 20 kilometers away from the front, became a regular occurrence.
The new generation of drones will allow the Russian military to hit all sorts of military targets located further behind the front, like radars and air defense, with pinpoint accuracy at an extremely low cost.

“operation spiderweb 2.0” w/nukes coming soon…heheheh
of course, if ukraine were to conduct a nuclear suprise attack on russia, the first thing they would do is inform a 2 bit propagandist on the internet that would spill the beans. makes total sense … when you are as stupid a the one liner brigade here.
operation “spider web” worked fantastically well, 12 planes have no wings anymore and the whole ukraine is on fire!
strongly reminiscent of operation “chess move”, zelenskaya marches into kursk, loses tens of thousands of soldiers, and the russians are now 15km from sumy!
i’m swallowing the “heheheh”, -idiot!
more drone penetration of russia coming…heheheh
not sure that you are on ukraine side.
ukrainian drones = ferrari russian drones =lada
ukrainian drones struck two russian airbases, a fuel depot and a missile and aviation plant overnight
