The Russian military carried out 19 group strikes against Ukraine over the past week, the Russian Ministry of Defense said in a briefing on June 14.
The strikes were carried out in response to “attempts by the Kiev regime to damage Russian energy facilities,” according to the ministry, which noted that “precision air and ground-based weapons as well as strike unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs)” were used.
“Energy facilities that provided the work of enterprises of the military-industrial complex of Ukraine were hit,” the ministry said in its weekly briefing. “In addition, the infrastructure of military airfields, storages of Storm Shadow cruise missiles and other aviation weapons, ammunition and explosives depots, workshops for the production of attack UAVs, places of preparation for the use of unmanned boats as well as temporary locations of nationalist formations and foreign mercenaries were affected.”
The latest group strike took place early on June 14, with blasts reported in the Ukrainian capital, Kiev as well as in the regions of Khmelnytskyi, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Mykolaiv, Zaporizhzhia, Odessa and Kirovohrad.
Also in its briefing, the ministry summarized Russian defensive and offensive operations in all directions over the past week.
The ministry said that the Sever Group of Forces advanced deeper into Ukrainian defenses and launched strikes against four formations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), one marine brigade, two territorial defense brigades and two Ukrainian National Guard brigades. The group also repelled 45 counter-attacks by Ukrainian assault units, according to the ministry.
“The AFU losses were up to 1,710 Ukrainian troops, two armored fighting vehicles, 32 motor vehicles, three Grad MLRS fighting vehicles, 16 field artillery guns, three Bukovel-AD and Nota electronic warfare stations as well as eight field ammunition depots,” the ministry said.
Meanwhile, the Zapad Group of Forces took more advantageous positions and liberated Artyomovka in the Lugansk People’s Republic and Timkovka in the Kharkov region, according to the ministry.
The group also struck the five mechanized, tank, assault and airmobile brigades of the AFU, territorial defense formations and three brigades of the Ukrainian National Guard.
“The AFU losses were up to 3,405 Ukrainian troops, four armored fighting vehicles, 32 motor vehicles, 30 field artillery guns, including seven United States-made M777 howitzers,” the ministry said, adding that “three electronic warfare stations and four ammunition depots have been eliminated.”
The ministry also said that the Yug Group of Forces improved the situation along the front line and launched strikes against six mechanized, airmobile, motorized, two air assault brigades as well as two territorial defense formations.
“The AFU losses were up to 3,785 Ukrainian troops, 11 armored fighting vehicles, 48 motor vehicles and 39 field artillery guns, 14 of which were Western-made. In addition, 22 field ammunition depots have also been destroyed,” it added.
From its side, the Tsentr Group of Forces improved the tactical situation and defeated four infantry, four mechanized as well as one airborne brigade of the AFU as well as territorial defense formations, according to the ministry, which noted that 34 counter-attacks were also repelled by the group.
“The enemy losses were up to 2,375 troops, 14 armored fighting vehicles, four U.S.-made Bradley infantry fighting vehicles, two German-made infantry fighting vehicles, six motor vehicles as well as 52 field artillery guns, including ten U.S.-made M777 howitzers,” the ministry said.
The ministry also announced that the Vostok Group of Forces advanced and liberated Staromayorskoye in the Donetsk People’s Republic.
The group also hit manpower and hardware clusters of one motorized infantry, two mechanized brigades of the AFU, it added.
“The AFU losses were up to 965 Ukrainian troops, two tanks, six armored fighting vehicles, 29 motor vehicles, two Czech-made Vampire MLRS combat vehicles and 12 field artillery guns,” the ministry said. “In addition, three Anklav and Nota electronic warfare stations have been destroyed.”
During the same period, the Dnepr Group of Forces defeated three brigades of the AFU, one marine brigade and one formation of the Ukrainian National Guard, according to the ministry.
“The AFU losses were up to 555 Ukrainian troops, 37 motor vehicles and 26 field artillery guns, seven of which were foreign-made,” it said.
The ministry also announced that Russian air defenses shot down over the past week one MiG-29 fighter jet and two Mi-8 helicopters of the Ukrainian Air Force (UAF)
In addition, 13 U.S.-made ATACMS operational-tactical missiles, three U.S.-made Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems, two Neptune anti-ship missiles, two U.S.-made HARM anti-radiation missiles, eight French-made HAMMER, and U.S.-made JDAM aerial bombs, 46 HIMARS, Vampire, Uragan, Olkha projectiles and 465 unmanned aerial vehicles were intercepted during the same period.
Moreover, Su-27 and Su-25 warplanes of the UAF were destroyed while on the ground at their airfields by Russian strikes, the ministry said.
Also during the past week, 46 Ukrainian troops surrendered, according to the ministry, in different directions within the special military operation zone.
“In total, 613 airplanes and 276 helicopters, 25,791 UAVs, 529 air defense missile systems, 16,329 tanks and other armored fighting vehicles, 1,337 combat vehicles equipped with MLRS, 10,441 field artillery cannons and mortars as well as 22,542 units of special military equipment have been destroyed during the special military operation,” the ministry concluded.
All in all, the Russian military continues to dominate the battlefield. The recent limited ground operations and group strikes inflicted heavy human and material losses on Kiev forces. Despite receiving more military aid from its NATO backers, Ukraine’s military capabilities continue to deteriorate.
