Russian Army Launched 39 Group Strikes Against Ukrainian Targets Past Week: MoD

The Russian military launched 39 group strikes against targets in Ukraine over the past week, the Ministry of Defense announced on July 12.

“From 6 to 12 July 2024, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation carried out 39 group strikes with high-precision air- and ground-based weapons as well as strike drones, which hit AFU [Armed Forces of Ukraine] air bases, enterprises of the Ukrainian military-industrial complex and energy facilities that supported their work, assembly facilities for military equipment as well as storage areas for uncrewed surface vehicles and strike UAVs [unmanned aerial vehicles,” the ministry said in its weekly briefing.

The group strikes achieved their set goals, the ministry added, confirming that “all the assigned targets have been engaged.”

Also in the briefing, the ministry provided a summary of Russian military actions in different directions within the special military operation past week.

The ministry said that the Sever Group of Forces improved the situation along the front line and launched strikes against four AFU formations, one marine and three territorial defense brigades. In addition, the group repelled 26 Ukrainian NATO Reinforces Its War Plans During Washington Summit
counter-attacks.

“The AFU losses amounted to up to 1,800 Ukrainian troops, two tanks, four armored fighting vehicles, 22 motor vehicles and 34 field artillery guns, including eight United States-made M777 howitzers as well as three electronic warfare stations,” the ministry added.

The Zapad Group of Forces also improved the tactical situation in its direction, according to the ministry. The group hit four mechanized, one tank, one assault and one airmobile brigades of the AFU as well as three territorial defense brigades. Three Ukrainian attacks were also repelled by the group.

“The AFU losses amounted to up to 3,440 troops, five tanks, 14 armored fighting vehicles, including two U.S.-made M113 armored personnel carriers, 47 motor vehicles and 32 field artillery guns,” the ministry said. “In addition, 14 field ammunition depots were destroyed.”

Furthermore, the ministry said that the Yug Group of Forces struck five mechanized, one motorized infantry, one assault, one mountain assault and two air assault brigades of the AFU, adding that six counter-attacks were also repelled in the group’s direction.

“The AFU losses amounted to up to 4,380 Ukrainian troops, three tanks, four armored fighting vehicles, 90 motor vehicles and 59 field artillery guns, including 27 Western-made,” the ministry said. “Nine electronic warfare stations and 29 field ammunition depots were eliminated.”

The ministry also announced that the Tsentr Group of Forces liberated the settlements of Sokol, Chigari, Yasnobrodovka and Voskhod in the Donetsk People’s Republic.

The group defeated six mechanized, two infantry brigades and two territorial defense formations, according to the ministry, which also said that 38 counter-attacks were repelled in this direction.

“The AFU losses amounted to up to 2,785 Ukrainian troops, two U.S.-made M1A1 Abrams tanks, nine armored fighting vehicles, including four U.S.-made Bradley infantry fighting vehicles, 15 motor vehicles and 26 field artillery guns,” the ministry said.

In addition, the ministry said that the Vostok Group of Forces improved the tactical situation in its direction, hitting one mechanized, two motorized infantry, three territorial defense brigades and national guard formations. The group also repelled nine counter-attacks.

“The AFU losses amounted to up to 980 Ukrainian troops, one tank, nine armored fighting vehicles, including two U.S.-made M113 armored fighting vehicles, 40 motor vehicles and 16 field artillery guns, ten of them manufactured in NATO countries,” the ministry added.

Meanwhile, the Dnepr Group of Forces defeated units of two formations, one marine and four territorial defense brigades of the AFU, according to the ministry.

“The AFU losses amounted to up to 685 Ukrainian troops, one armored fighting vehicle, 38 motor vehicles and 22 field artillery guns, including eight U.S.-made M777 guns,” the ministry said. “Six electronic warfare stations and six ammunition depots were destroyed.”

Also over the past week, Operational-Tactical Aviation, UAVs, Missile Troops and Artillery of the Russian Groups of Forces eliminated seven U.S.-made M142 HIMARS MLRS [Multiple Launch Rocket System] launchers prepared to launch strikes at the Crimean territory together with the foreign operators who served them, four U.S.-made S-300PS anti-aircraft missile launchers with a radar, three U.S.-made HAWK anti-aircraft missile systems and two U.S.-made Patriot anti-aircraft missile launchers with a radar, according to the ministry.

During the same period, Russian air defenses intercepted four U.S.-made ATACMS operational-tactical missiles, three British-made Storm Shadow cruise missiles, 17 French-made Hammer guided bombs, one U.S.-made HARM anti-radiation missile, 28 U.S.-made HIMARS and Czech-made Vampire projectiles as well as 308 UAVs.

The ministry also announced that 22 Ukrainian troops surrendered to the Russian military in different directions over the past week.

“In total, 627 airplanes and 277 helicopters, 27,536 UAVs, 546 air defense missile systems, 16,560 tanks and other armored fighting vehicles, 1,376 combat vehicles equipped with MLRS, 11,768 field artillery guns and mortars as well as 23,597 units of special military equipment have been destroyed during the special military operation,” the ministry concluded

Overall, the Russian military continues to dominate the battlefield. Recent group strikes and ground operations inflicted heavy human and material losses on Kiev forces. Still, Kiev will not likely back down as it continues to receive strong support from its Western backers to prolong the war.
