On March 13th, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation officially confirmed the full control of the town of Sudzha, which was turned into the main stronghold of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Russian border Kursk region. LINK, LINK
Russian victory in Sudzha largely enhances the strategic capabilities of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation for their further offensive and destruction of the last Ukrainian positions on the Russian territory.
Russian assault on Sudzha did not last long. As a result of their ‘Pipe’ operation, Russian forces took control of the industrial zone located to the northeast of the town. On March 11, the Russian troops completed the mop up operations on the flanks and approached the residential area. On March 12th, Russian flags were raised in the center of Sudzha, confirming Russian control of the entire town in its administrative border.
Like in all previously liberated villages in the Kursk region, the Russian military is already evacuating civilians from the liberated town. The governor of the region reported that since yesterday, as of the morning of March 13, 120 civilians were evacuated from Sudzha.
Russian media and military reporters are already working on the streets of the ruined Sudzha, confirming that Russian control of the town was secured. The retreating Ukrainian forces increased artillery fire and drone strikes. Several Ukrainian attempts to counterattack were repelled.
After the remaining Ukrainian forces fled from Sudzha, they are trying to hold defense in the village of Goncharovka located on the western outskirts across the river. Battles were already reported in the village. The Armed Forces of Ukraine are likely to fiercely resist in Goncharovka because there is the last road to escape from the Kursk region. It was already called the ‘death road’ because of the large losses of the retreating Ukrainian troops.
The town of Sudzha is surrounded by other villages, most of them were liberated by the Russian troops in recent days. According to the official report by the Russian Defense Ministry, together with Sudzha, the settlements of Melovoy and Podol are also under the full Russian control. The latter are located on the southern outskirts. Russian victories there, increase fire control of the roads to the Ukrainian Sumy region and even threaten Ukrainian forces in Goncharovka with encirclement and assault from the new directions.
According to the latest reports from the Kursk region, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are still present in less than a dozen border settlements, including:
- Goncharovka
- Rubanshina
- Gogolevka
- Oleshnya
- Guevo
- Gornal.
Ukrainian adventure in the Kursk region is coming to its end. On March 12th, Russian President Vladimir Putin came to the region to assess the situation on the frontlines. He listened to the report of the Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, who summed up the interim results of the ongoing offensive operations. The Ukrainian army lost more than 68,000 servicemen and 7,000 units of military equipment in the Kursk region.
Supreme Commander-in-Chief Putin ordered to consider the creation of a security zone near the Russian border after the full liberation of the Kursk region. This is a clear signal that the Russian army may continue offensive in the Ukrainian Sumy region. Battles are already ongoing on the Ukrainian territory. The Russian troops crossed the border near Novenke and Zhurvka and continue expanding their bridgehead. According to the latest reports, Russian forces launched assault on Basovka. At the moment, the Russian troops continue local attacks aimed at increasing fire on the last roads that are used by Ukrainian forces retreating from Sudhza. However, a larger offensive on a wide front may begin in the Sumy region in the nearest future. In order to secure its border areas from Ukrainian attacks and strikes, Russian forces should push the border at least a few dozen kilometers to the west.
me real will ramses saxon accept any humiliation cuz we are weak losers
now that’s good military strategy with little to free the call to drive forward into ukraine to create a security zone is wise logic. note russia still not going with the so called – donald/zelensky “peace plan ” another wise move when russia holds the cards ( as donald admitted ).
h yes and turkey has set a president for doing just that. if nato countries can do it russia can
only a foolish country would dare engage in warfare with an entire army composed of heroes such as the pipeline soldiers.
